If you don't think beady eye with all the inter promotion with pretty green isn't a " a " brand " I can't agree just as Oasis became a " brand. ". Like the stones and who before them. Not accusing them of anything but stating the truth

Staples IMO I don't disagree, but forging an "identity" is pretty much a lost cause as far as this album is concerned. To be blunt, Oasis songs only dilute their brand because they're so much more memorable than Beady Eye's own material. If Beady Eye upped their songwriting on the next album, all the other pieces would fall into place. That, not dropping Oasis songs, is the real solution I for one like BE a lot, but I would be amazed if any non-Oasis fans bought the album or could even name the singles. That problem would remain even if they stopped playing Oasis songs live.

Liam needs to seperate himself from oasis because I'm telling you beady eye is non existent here in the USA , I'm old but I got my ear to the youth trust me ,,,nobody knows them here in Florida , and it's not much better in NYC , and they are running the risk of being oasis lite. Ya know ? I love the version , just wish Liam would go solo or get this band started as to where you don't need a bevy of Noel songs to pacify a crowd , that's all .

Would agree. With added importance on social media, selling once's own merch, and DIY musicians, even the most independent artists, whether consciously or unconsciously, attempt to build a brand.

I just read a tweet from someone that said something along the lines of, So BE is playing Champagne Supernova? Have they become an Oasis tribute act? Everyone has pretty much said what I think...I love CS but playing this song is not going to help BE resurrect itself. Like what xo0oo0ox and kalas said, the main problem is BE's songwriting and lack of identity. I mean, the BE album was a lot better in those aspects than DGSS, but they still need work, and better promotion. And unfortunately I'd have to agree--if a band wants to be succeed in the mainstream market, they need a "brand" or selling point. Only in the indie/alternative/underground scenes do bands seem to have more fluidity (and arguably, the idea of "indie" music is itself a kind of brand, too). John Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls once said, "Punk's not dead, it's just at K-Mart." (incidentally, I'm a fan of the Goo Goo Dolls but they are also an example of a band that started out as punk/garage, believe it or not, and slowly went more and more mainstream, and less good in my opinion, after their hit "Iris." So perhaps it's a little ironic that John said that.)

I thought he sounded alright here, so much better than the tragic vocals he gives on a lot of songs now.
