Why was this version done? Can someone give me some history behind it?
I actually, often prefer this version to the raw Liam sung version.
Is that Liam on the backing vocals? There are a couple times Liam does the backing vox, and it always seems to work. Magical band.
Love the ending with Lisa Moorish, too. Wish Noel did more of this type of thing.

I'm guessing it was done for a charity event with the Warchild charity, and obviously the songs lyrics (the dreams we have has children etc.) made it an ideal choice. I prefer this version too, much more relaxed and less noisy. Yes Liam is doing the awesome backing vocals you can hear

I prefer it to the version on the C&A single.
It should have been on the MG reissue on disc 2, seeing as the Warchild album came out in September 1995.

I love both versions of Fade Away and I have them both on cd anyway. So I doubt I'll buy the re-release of the war child album.

Just ordered the 25th anniversary edition of Help on vinyl the other day. I really didn’t like the version of Fade Away on this album at first but have grown to really like it over the years. Can’t beat the original though.

I haven't listened to the War Child version of Fade Away for a long time. I'm not too sure if it's available on Amazon Music or any other streaming sites.

It's OK.
But the song is made to be with energy and Liam's voice for me.

It's OK. But the song is made to be with energy and Liam's voice for me. Kinda agree. I wish they'd done the warchild version with a full Liam vocal as he sounds great on the backing vox. I prefer the softer, acoustic style of it. I'm sure many would disagree though

I prefer the softer, acoustic style of it. I'm sure many would disagree though Lyrically the way the song is I see your point that it would fit an acoustic style or a softer version. But the power and energy of the release is hard to top with an acoustic version like this even though the recording of the original release is a bit messy. It's a nice little version of the song though. Like Noel's Up In The Sky from that time. (Without Liam's backing obviously)
