I stumbled upon this little gem of a band the other day.
At times, it's a similar style to Vampire Weekend in places, but I prefer Comets' sound and there's more going on. I'm also bias as I'm indifferent to Vampire. Comets are clever with their lyrics, too.
Little Comets has 2 albums out: In Search of
Elusive Little Comets (2011) & Life is Everywhere (2012).
Regarding the songs I've linked below:
Little Opus is blatantly Vampire Weekend, but the song develops, and the second half is fantastic and showcases the potential of this band - catchy chorus over shimmering guitars.
Isles is brilliant. In the B R I T, I say British Isles....
While
Dancing Song makes me want to dance a jig with
caro . Nothing innovative, but doesn't matter. Fun chune, innit.
Coincidentally, they came out with a
new EP yesterday - what are the chances! - (
The Gentle EP)!
Little Italy comes from that EP.
That's enough to be getting on with. Such an underrated band. You're all welcome.
