www.rollingstone.com/music/news/u2-say-invisible-is-a-sneak-preview-of-new-album-20140131This tune is a 'sneak preview' of the new album, but not the lead single. It's a free download, courtesy of the charity Red, with the Bank of America donating $1 for every download. It's available in some regions already - here in the UK - and I've listened to it. Verdict? They are back on form. It's amazing - just when I thought U2 had lost their anthemic qualities they come back with this, and it's very modern sounding - the benefit of getting a new producer in. The best U2 single in years.

Jesus, it's a free download for charity. He could have at least waited a few hours until it wasn't available anymore to post it on youtube, uh? Attention whore Anyway, I just downloaded it. Nice track Although I'm not that crazy about it yet

Nice track Although I'm not that crazy about it yet Compare it to Get On Your Boots and Vertigo, and it is a massive relief in my opinion. I can hear some of their old influences in there - a wee bit of Joy Division, New Order and Kraftwerk.

Didn't like it, sounds like Elevation, but a bad and overproduced Elevation.

To me it's a very simple, safe song for a band that really faltered on their previous album. I honestly liked their other recent song "Ordinary Love" a ton more than this.
I guess "Invisible" is a better direction than what No Line On The Horizon offered.
I wonder if this is finally from the Danger Mouse sessions or Rick Rubin ones from 2008.

It's a rock song that doesn't rock, dunno exactly, it's heavy but not raw.
Incredible how Bono sounds good til today after all these decades.

Interesting, I think the opposite in terms of these two tunes. Note that it is titled 'Invisible RED Edit'. If so, I think the album version is going to be different, perhaps longer. There's a video on their website which shows them recording it, and Bono is singing very different lyrics - more explicit and autobiographical rather than the ambiguous lyrics of this version. I'm thinking they've done this as it doesn't really make sense for a charity song about the band leaving Dublin - which is what this song is about. I'm just wondering when the hell they release their lead single - it's taking a very long time and they're still finishing the album.

Originally recorded in 2008 along with No Line On The Horizon, first with Rick Rubin, then with Danger Mouse. Was supposed to come out at the tail end of 2009. Postponed. Then in mid 2010. Postponed. Then end of summer 2011. Postponed. Total limbo in 2012 and 2013. Just release the fucking thing. You aren't getting any younger Bono. Be spontaneous for the first time in your life.

Unless they plan this album to be their last ever before breaking up? The alternative lyrics to Invisible seem poignant. Perhaps that's why they're taking so long. The whole idea of revisiting their past, the concept of the album being about growing from a 'Boy' to 'Man'.... wouldn't surprise me if they called the album 'Man', got that kid from the album cover of Boy who is all grown up now on the album cover, and split up. Think that would be a pretty neat way to bookend your career.

I think it's quite good actually, and normally I f**king hate U2. You know I renewed my love for u-2 , a few months ago but only from the boy/ October years thru Joshua tree ...( one and mysterious ways. Staring at the sun as well ) then the new u-2. Which sux. I'm put this in with new U2. It sux ,,, I just can't get into there new sound too polished , they were the last band I loved nat couldn't really play ... The edge in the early days was a 3 chord wonder , they were raw and had a edge ( exuse the pun ) .....the more polished sound around rattle and hum on with exception of a few tunes I just despise ...much like the police , and rem
