Yes, and they have a better shot than most think. Oasis actually have a very good case to make it in. Some go by the theory that if the Smiths aren't in, then Oasis won't get in. I say that could be extremely faulty reasoning. The difference between the Smiths and Oasis is impact in America. 1.) Usually you must have at least one critically acclaimed album. Oasis has two, Definitely Maybe and What's the Story Morning Glory. Yes, the general public know them more for Morning Glory, but the general public isn't voting. If the general public voted then the Stooges and the Velvet Underground wouldn't be in the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame. Definitely Maybe will be counted as a critically successful album for them and will strengthen their case. 2.) Commercial Success. Whats the Story Morning Glory. What can be more commercially successful? Not to mention they also hit #2 with BHN and #5 with Dig Out Your Soul. Giving them three Top 5 albums. Along with the big hit: Wonderwall. When you include Live Forever (a song that even Pitchfork says is brilliant), Champagne Supernova, and Don't Look Back in Anger, all big hits on the Modern Rock charts, then they've pretty much sewn up commercial success. 3.) Impact. They were the biggest British Band of their generation by a wide margin. They dominated. They were also the only Brit Pop band to truly make a sizable impact in the states. Other than Radiohead, what other British band has been as enduring since the 90's? I have a hard time believing the hall of fame committee will shut out an entire generation of British band music from the hall. It's never happened before. Usually at least two get it. In this case: Radiohead and Oasis. 4.) Lastly, influence. I don't think anyone can deny Oasis' influence on music. For all their squabbling there are too many artists that would not exist without them. Whether it's Coldplay, the Arctic Monkeys, the Killers, etc (mind you, all big artists), their influence is undeniable. Oasis has an extremely strong case to make it. Will they be first ballot? Probably not. But they'll get in. It'll just take a bit of time.

Excellent post spaneli.
I would say yeah they'll get it, but really does it matter? This things are pretty useless in the greater scheme of things. Doubt Noel and Liam care about it that much. Their impact as a band is undeniable, neither is the glorious run of 94-96, in which they were not only the best/biggest indie and rock n roll band in the world, but they were a phenomenon. It is rare that musical act becomes that ingrained into culture, and Oasis arrived at just the right time culturally, and musically.
Noel's songs obviously have had an influence over a generations and Liam's voice is about as iconic as they come.

All the indie/alternative stations are dead (99.3, 101.9, etc). Shit, even 104.3 which plays classic rock is lame as hell. They seem to only play the top 30-40 classic rock songs everyone knows and loves already. No thinking outside the box at all. So much great material from the 60s to now, yet they keep playing the same 30 songs over and over and over and over. They probably play "Sweet Child of Mine" 5 times a day. Also...................you can't even find a record shop in NYC anymore. What the fuck is going on here. This is New York people?!?!!?

WHO GIVES A FUCK IF OASIS MAKES BULLSHIT HALL A-,I do B - I don't B I don't I don't think likability matters. Did anyone who voted for the Sex Pistols find them likable? Or how about Ike Turner? Or Axl Rose? Or Joni Mitchell? David Byrne of the Talking Heads or even Cat Stevens? All those people are in whether likable or not. Again, this isn't the general view. Likability is overrated. The committee is actually fairly decent at looking past that. And in terms of candidacy, it doesn't matter when mainstream radio thinks they fell off. That's completely irrelevant. It's only relevant toward whether you think they'll sell millions of records again, but not in a career retrospective like the Hall of Fame. Again, if the thoughts of mainstream radio mattered, then Velvet Underground, the Stooges, The Ramones, The Small Faces, Alice Cooper, Joni Mitchell, and Frank Zappa wouldn't be in. There's no correlation between what mainstream radio thinks and whether someone will make it or not. If when or how long artists mattered to mainstream radio or even the mainstream public counted t, then probably half of the artists in the rock n' roll hall of fame wouldn't be in because every artists has that fall off. Unless you're the Beatles every artist has that radio irrelevance. That's the point of a peak. For a period of time you're relatively known to everyone, then you fall off, then you're forgotten by the mainstream. That's the career arch of just about every artist. I don't think that will matter much. The only people in matters to is the buying public and fans. The hall has proven that it probably won't much matter.

Where is the push for Collective Soul making the Hall of Fame? Back in the 90s, they were probably bigger than Oasis in America. I haven't met, heard or seen this band since. I doubt they have a case yet smoked Oasis in every regard commercially stateside.
* Total hypothetical recommendation that I do not personally support

Oasis were the biggest band in the 90's, and the best throughout their time, released 2 of the best albums of all time (esp Morning Glory), their b-sides can beat any current bands best songs..they deserve it.
