Just back from the hospital after they discharged me after finding that no lasting damage was done by the heart attack i suffered after discovering that no Oasis was present in the list of nominees for the nation's favourite lyric.this is a travesty.just wondering what your thoughts were on this and what you believe are the finest oasis lyrics.
An early thought is live forever and 'we see things they'll never see' and from the same song, 'now is not the time to cry, now's the time to find out why.'
Other features of my list include:
opening line of supersonic 'you gotta make it happen' c+a 'you found your god in a paper back, you get your history from the union jack, and all your brothers and sisters have gone and they won't come back' mucky fingers 'please don't put your life in the hands, off a rock n roll band, who'll throw it all away'-dlbia
i could go on and on with lyrics that i think rule but i believe they realy deserved recognition.Mucky Fingers is kinda Dylan 'subterranean ...' but with immense meaning and passion.
Anyway I'll let ya make ya suggestions

To be honest I can see reason behind leaving Oasis out, as long as the nominations are for those artists renowned for their lyrical genius. Not when the list is populated by such monumental shite as the Kaiser Chiefs, Christina Aguilera and, if memory serves me correctly, 50 fucking Cent.
Even the Coldplay nomination gets on my tits, and I love Yellow.

Before anyone else gets this one, this is my favourite:
"Who kicked a whole in the sky, so the heavns will cry over me" LET THERE BE LOVE Also; "You can have it all, but how much do you want it?" SUPERSONIC The list is endless, but that's all I could think of at the moment.

I would venture a guess you have a "new lease on life ?" whole new perspective.. I want to add : " bound with all the weight of all the words he tried to say..." "chained to all the places that he never wished to say.." " I ONLY WANNA SEE THE LIGHT THAT SHINES BEHIND YOUR EYES..." " CANT GET A LIFE IF MY HEART'S NOT IN IT.." "i WAS LOOKING FOR SOME ACTION, BUT ALL i FOUND WAS CIGARETTES AND ALCOHOL."

I'm really surprised Oasis didn't make the list, given how popular they are in the UK. I'd have thought something from, say, Don't Look Back in Anger or Live Forever would surely have been on there ("Please Don't Put Your Life in the Hands/Of a Rock n' Roll Band/Who'll Throw it All Away" or "You and I are gonna Live Forever").
Maybe they didn't nominate one because Noel was included on the panel (the description I read said Noel was interviewed on the program).

I'll meet you on a day that never ends I'll greet you in a way that heaven meant You lay me down gently on the leaves You cover me over in my sleep.
Step off the train all alone at dawn Back into the hole where I was born The sun in the sky never raised an eye to me
All your dreams are made of strawberry lemondade And you make sure I eat today You take me walking To where you played when you were young
................... I could go on!

'I'll meet you on a day that never ends I'll greet you in a way that heaven meant You lay me down gently on the leaves You cover me over in my sleep.'
In honesty mate nothing from a song as obscure as Idler's Dream was ever going to be chosen as few people will have heard it
I thought about 'Cant get a life if my heart in in it' but then thought not to include it.
Oasis could have been in even though Noel was on the panel of interviewees just as Richard Ashcroft was and the kaisers. They did not make the decisions

i knew someone was gonna say that.... well, can you consider such tracks songs then? Live4evr thinks no Are you kidding songs without lyrics aren’t really songs, there’s no way you honestly think that. What about almost every classical piece of music, I guess some of the things that Motzart and Bach wrote aren’t songs now are they. Or how about a great deal of jazz they don’t use words either guess those aren’t songs. Just think before you type man, that’s all I ask

its not a song i cant believe i did this, but... from dictionary.com: song Pronunciation Key (sông, sng) n. 1. Music. 1. A brief composition written or adapted for singing. 2. The act or art of singing: broke into song. 2. A distinctive or characteristic sound made by an animal, such as a bird or an insect. 3. 1. Poetry; verse. 2. A lyric poem or ballad. AND song n 1: a short musical composition with words; -- NOW SHUT THE FUCK UP AND KEEP REPEATING: "LIVE4EVR OWNS ALL"

YOU’RE FUCKING RETARDED
I don’t give a shit about what the fucking dictionary says about songs or music. Because music isn’t something physical that can be described in words. I didn’t think it was possible to be this retarded. The greatest musical minds the people who created music wrote SONGS with no words. Now how can you, some fuck who doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about, come around and say that these masterpieces aren’t songs. What do you call them then?

Music.
Actually, lets look up that definition too:
music Pronunciation Key (myzk) n. The art of arranging sounds in time so as to produce a continuous, unified, and evocative composition, as through melody, harmony, rhythm, and timbre. Instrumental sounds possessing a degree of melody, harmony, or rhythm.
A musical composition. The written or printed score for such a composition. Such scores considered as a group: We keep our music in a stack near the piano. A musical accompaniment. A particular category or kind of music. An aesthetically pleasing or harmonious sound or combination of sounds: the music of the wind in the pines. --
songs have words music is just arranged sounds, such as classical music, without words.
cant believe i have to explain this.
songs have music, but music does not necessarily consititute as a song
and for you to say you dont believe in dictionary definitions is weak...its ur choice, but its damn ignorant
check your facts before you call someone names, cos it normally back fires, as it has done here

and heres my final point, and its a damn good one too:
you CAN sing songs but you CANT sing music
(you can HUM music though, because it mocks the sound, but how the hell can you sing when theres no words?)

you can sing music you dick now you're saying that all songs with singing isn't music. The truly physical definition of music is frequencies made by the vibration of and object, wether it's a guitar string, a sax reid, or you vocal chords, singing is music and songs don't have to have singing, a song is a piece of music. you're thinking about music on a strictly literal basis and you can do that it's not about certin classifications.

alright i'm gonna try and be civil and just get my last thought in. The fact is that you are taking this all on too literal of a basis, and that's fine with other things, but when it comes to music you can't. Music, like all art, is an abstract consept that can't be defined by words, only be emotion. And what you said is true we prolly aren't gonna move on it.
