I love Noel's voice on acoustic songs.
He sounds strained on songs where he is backed by the full band. This can be covered up by magic of the studio engineers but he just doesn't have the edge to sing behind a ful band - Leave it to Liam!
Imagine if Liam had done the studio vocals to "Don't Look Back In Anger". We can wish!
Noel seems determined to sing on at least 2 album tracks every time, and at least on one single. Is this egotistic?
Noel is great when he sings quietly over poignant acoustic songs. That is his strength as a performer. But he must realise he'll never be better than an average pub singer behind a full band.
Does anyone else feel that way?

no.
noel's voice may not be as strong but i don't think it gets any better than hearing him sing "don't look back in anger" live in front of thousands of people.
liam's voice definitely packs a bigger (and more venemous) punch but Noel's voice has aged like a fine wine, and i think his voice gets better and better in every new bootleg i hear of him whether it be acoustic or him backed with a full band.

The thing that makes DLBIA so special is that it came out of nowhere on MG. It is not a hidden gem like sad song or half the world away. When Noel wrote it, it was gonna be his. It could only be his. He could have easily had it tucked away as an acoustic B side like the others. But he gives it that sound. I think Noel's voice evokes a certain emotion or spirit while Liam evokes this kind of energy attitude thing ( I can't describe it). Epic songs like that and the Masterplan are structured towards what we know now to be Noel's style.

DLBIA is obviously not a heavy tune, though it's not an acoustic one either. I could not imagine Liam singing it. And when you go to see them live that's the fucking highlight of the show! So that leaves me with saying that I definitely don't like his voice on songs like Mucky Fingers or Force of Nature cos I don't dig his voice on rockers |

noel's voice doesn't get enough credit. liam singing it would be ok, but it wouldn't be the same song that we know today if noel didn't do it. noel has a MUCH better voice then liam when you talk technically about it. but liam's carries a lil more edge and arrogance and most importantly it's distinctive. you definitley know it when you ear it. but liam couldn't do MF.... that's noel's as well.

Anything Noel sings can only be sung by Noel; similarly I'm not huge on Noel singing Liam's songs. Live Forever wouldn't be Live Forever without Liam's voice behind it; Noel does a decent job but that's all it is, decent.
I reckon they've done a good job picking who sings what, because for the life of me I can't imagine Liam carrying Force Of Nature or Mucky Fingers just as I can't see Noel making as good a job of Some Might Say, Live Forever, etc.

Stop Crying Your Heart out isn't similar to DLBIA though, none of the notes are near as high and none are held out for as long.. i think Noel carries a lot of songs with his backing vocals too, TUTS would be nothing without Noels backing vocals in my opinion
