As we probably all know Noel hired this geezer (Lenny Castro) to drum on Part of the queue. Why? Did this tune demand some kind of percussionist genius or was Zak to busy to do it himself?

as far as i know zak starkey wasn't available for all of the recording of the album so they had to get another drummer in for some tracks.
infact does noel even play the drums on one song from the album?

Castro doesn't play the drums on it. He only plays the percussion. Listen carefully, there's more than drums on this track.

Maybe they recorded it in America and Zac couldn't make it over or something, I'm sure he was busy with the Who

Zak did the drumming on Part of the queue, and Lenny Castro did percussion. Look at the DBTT sleeve. At least mine version says so.

Isn't it just an example of someone doing a cameo on someone else's record to make it a bit more special or interesting? Just like Noel on Setting Sun or lots of other cases. I don't think Lenny's percussion is just something average that anyone else in the band could do - it's his trademark and helps make the song mega.
Love this song - so black, love Noel's timing in the vocals, great lyrics, awesome solos.
