* From their mailing list: 14 AUTUMNS... REISSUE AND TOUR On Record Store Day 2014 we will be reissuing our debut album “Fourteen Autumns & Fifteen Winters” as a deluxe package. We were recently asked to perform “Fourteen Autumns & Fifteen Winters” in Glasgow and after agreeing to do so we realized that it hasn’t been available to buy on Vinyl for 3 or 4 years. We also realized that we had lots of demos, and music that we wanted people to hear. So after talking with Fatcat we decided that it would be a good idea to reissue “Fourteen Autumns & Fifteen Winters” along with all the bonus material we had from that time. We’re very proud of our debut album. i’ve said this many times before but you only get one chance at making your 1st Album and whilst ours didn’t set the world on fire or sell hundreds of thousands of copies, I think it’s a special record that means a lot to the people who have discovered it. Just after the release we'll be playing the album live in the select cities across The UK. EDINBURGH GIG THIS COMING WEEKEND On December the 14th we play in Edinburgh at The Liquid Rooms. This gig is the final gig of our 3rd Album campaign and its where we will be giving “No One Can Ever Know” a proper send off as a full band 5 piece. There’s been many ups and downs whilst promoting this album and we’d like to thank everyone who has supported it/came to a gig/bought the record. It is a again a record we’re very proud of and after Edinburgh and after a quick look back in Glasgow to our debut album we return to the studio in January to move forward into the new year to produce a new record. GET TICKETS HERE Cheers, James (The Twilight Sad) ****************************************************************************** I really love this band. They keep creating great music and playing in small venues, far away from all those hypes. Great, great band is that.

I agree with mimmi, they are a brilliant band. Saw them in Glasgow at a small venue too. I would highly recommend these guys to anyone who like grunge mixed with shoe-gaze. It's not pretty music and there's no room for sentiment, it's kind of bleak sounding but at the same time brilliant.
I think there's potential in this band to get bigger. Not stratospheric, but an arena tour would be cool to see I think.

I completely agree with this matt's words: "It's not pretty music and there's no room for sentiment, it's kind of bleak sounding but at the same time brilliant."
Their live performance is really loud, but at the same time beautiful.
I discovered them back in 2007. I liked Glasvegas at that time and someone recommended me "you should check The Twilight Sad out. They're far better than Glasvegas", so I checked their myspace page and listened to "Cold Day From A Birdhouse" and I fell in love with their music.

Similar in style live then to My Bloody Valentine I guess? I've not seen a full band performance of them, but rather an acoustic gig they did a couple of years back.

I've never seen My Bloody Valentine live, so I don't know, but The Sad live is really loud. I've seen them 3 times (twice since they became a 4 pieces band). I loved their acoustic performance too like they did for their acoustic EP a couple of years ago.

This and another The Twilight Sads related thread of mine became more like a private thread of me and matt, but anyway here's a tiny update about Sads: James and Andy talking about their fantastic debut album: www.drownedinsound.com/in_depth/4147622-the-twilight-sads-track-by-track-guide-to-fourteen-autumns-fifteen-wintersI just read that they've played a new song at their current gig. Also their 2 Scottish gigs supporting Manics went succesfull. I take that the new album (4th album of theirs already!) will be out in June/July. I'm dying to see them again. It's been 2 years since when I saw them last time. Keep creating great music, keep playing in small venues and don't change, Sads.

I can't remember too many albums from 2007 - that was a terrible year for me, but this album is the one redeeming feature. It was by far album of the year. I beg folk to go out and listen to it, it's a great piece of work.

Year 2007 had 2 fantastic albums (at least to me): * Fourteen Autums and Fifteen Winters - The Twilight Sad * Boxer - The National Anyway, I'm trying to get my copy of this RSD release, but it'll only be 500 copies in the UK, so am not sure if I can make it.
