here's what my perception of it...
it's not a BAD album, it just has all of Oasis's worst songs on it, and thats why it gets a bad wrap
Fuckin in the Bushes (im not a fan, but most ppl are) Go Let It Out Who Feels Love Gas Panic Sunday Morning Call Where Did It All Go Wrong
are all good tunes
but the rest are piss poor and by far the worst songs by Oasis:
I Can See A Liar Put Your Money Roll It Over (had potential) Little James
so, all in all, not a bad album...just one that has many bad songs on it...not all bad
still, my least fav album, but i do listen to it

I've said this before. SOTSOG has some bads songs and those were bad choices.
I made my own SOTSOG with only songs from that albums era and it's like this.
1.FITB 2.GLIO 3.WFL (I put the FTM version on there b/c it has more rythym guitar) 4.Carry Us All (Good B Side) 5.Gas Panic 6. One Way Road (Good B Side) 7. I Can See A Liar (not as bad as people think). 8. Let's All Make Believe (Mega B-Side) 9. WDIAGW 10.Roll It Over (I like It...excellent vocals). 11.SMC
I know anyone can make a mix cd, so when I am in the mood for a particular album or period of time that is what I choose when I am in a SOTSOG mood.
Other than the FTM version of WFL, that could have been the album if they arranged it like that. I also made sure that two Noel sung songs aren't back to back.
I actually just played this version in the car today.

Who Feels Love has a good vibe it's just empty...and a terrible choice for a single mind you! The only decent tracks are: FITB, Go Let it Out, Gas Panic, Where Did it all Go Wrong, and if you stretch it: Roll it Over

I like Little James...
anyway, I think the reason it gets such a bad wrap is because so many songs on there are so guitar inebriated. Its almost like they purposely wanted to get noticed in America so they used just rediculously stupid over the top guitars... but in a different way than Be Here Now. At least BHN had some good melodies and things, and the riffs weren't so lame.

SOTSOG had the potential to be a GREAT album; FITB, Gas Panic!, Sunday Morning Call, WDIAGW are among the best things Noel wrote. Different, mind you, from the DM-BHN stuff, but just as good in a different way. Really great lyrics, etc. Who Feels Love?, Roll it Over are good too and Go Let it Out is alright.
But the remaining three are terrible and the production is very hit-and-miss. I like the electronic vibe they were trying to go for, and it turned out great on Gas Panic!, but on other songs like Sunday Morning Call, they overdid it and on others they didn't do enough.
The album would have been a lot better had it had a better producer - someone who really took the reins, not just helping Noel - and if it had included Let's All Make Believe, maybe a finished version of Carry Us All or One Way Road and a couple good rockers in the vein of Setting Sun and Let Forever Be. Maybe the Chemical Bros. could have produced it. It also would have been better had Andy and Gem been integrated into the band or had Bonehead and Guigsy not left until after the album was completed.

I like this album, the first OASIS album that I bought and listened to, Go let it out is one of my favorite OASIS tunes with such good basses there, FITB - just good opener for every gig, Gas Panic - excellent song for live performance, WDIAGW and SMC - just good songs with beautiful Noel's vocal... Others are not too bad, but I don't like I can see a liar, but maybe it could be mixed and mastered better. And also beautiful b-sides. SMC is one of the best singles IMO. I think album could be better if Bonehead and Guigsy didn't leave the band during the recording. So, this is my version of tracklist with few chanes
1. FITB 2. GLIO 3. WFL 4. Full On (with Liam's vocal) 5. Carry Us All (there should be at least one Liam's song) 6. Gas Panic 7. WDIAGW 8. SMC 9. I can see a liar 10. Let's All Make Believe

it's a fine album but not very 'oasis' but it had to happen.
noel wanted to get away from the pop-tastic drug-filled nonsense of be here now and take the band in it's right direction and that's what the album did, noel knew it was going to get a poor response from the critics and the part-time oasis fans but it had to happen.
one word sums the album up for me: transitional.
still any album with fuckin in the bushes, go let it out, gas panic!, where did it all go wrong? and sunday morning call is fine by me.
