I've literally just unearthed this gem for the first time, I had absolutely no idea it existed. But what is it? Is it a demo? Hidden track? Is it a new song or what? Will somebody please explain!

It was recorded during the HFB sessions. It was used as a bonus track via Amazon for people who pre-ordered the album. It deserved a better fate than "Amazon Bonus Track".

Something tells me that wasn't Noel's decision.

Splitting hairs really? It's still an Amazon bonus track.

No. Its still the Amazon Bonus track in a variety of countries, obvs Germany, but also the US. www.amazon.com/Gallaghers-Version-Explicit-Digital-Booklet/dp/B0063MWGLKIt first appeared on the German Amazon when they did something wrong and made it available to purchase separately before the album was even released. It was the same on the US site as well for a short period of time. So far, its the only way the track has been released. It's easily my favorite thing he's done post-Oasis.

Definitely one of the best post Oasis tracks. I wonder if it'll be used in the next HFB album cycle? Maybe a slightly different version might see the light of day?

if he went more towards this type of songwriting it would be wonderful. The production is sublime it is atmospheric, dark, and light.
Lovely jazzy waltz drums are a nice change of pace from the stompy rhythm that is on a lot of Noel's newer material.
This is the quality I expect from him, and I can only hope he continues to expand his boundaries a little more, as he has shown in this track. One of his best songs of the 00's.

Really never got the overwhelming positivity for this song. I realise im alone with this opinion on here by the look of it but its one of his worst for me I like it because it's so different and adventurous. Noel's first solo album's great and all but it's just too soft for my liking, way too 'Coldplay' as someone put it. Too radio-friendly if you know what I mean, not that that's a bad thing, it's just not really a good thing.

This is the quality I expect from him, and I can only hope he continues to expand his boundaries a little more, as he has shown in this track. One of his best songs of the 00's. Would agree. It has become one of my favorite solo songs by him. He's been on a songwriting tear and hopefully it continues. The best way for it to probably continue is for Noel to do stuff like this and really expand. I thought Noel was most successful, whether that was touring with Snow Patrol or doing a show with RHCP (both received pretty big push back on this board), or he was musically pushing himself with Alone of the Rope being one of his best songs or What A Life being his biggest hit as a solo artist (and one of his biggest hits even with latter day Oasis quite frankly), when he pushed himself and threw out what was most acceptable to "his audience". I'm hoping he continues to throw out what's most acceptable to his audience and pushes himself a bit more the next time around, then maybe a song like Alone on the Rope will make it on an album rather than pushed aside as a bonus track. And maybe we can get that step in Noel's return to form because I really do think he's close. I don't think we've heard him reach his next peak yet, this might just only be the first spike.
