They'll hold plenty of tickets for general sale I think, @id1edreamer. Fingers crossed we all get our tickets on Friday! My dear Matt, you don't have to take your brother to Amsterdam this time.

I've only listened to the song on video, Return To The Moon. It's quite "bright" for Matt if you know what I mean, but I like it. I'm curious how the entire album will sound like. and I'll see if he will pour his wine to an audience in the front row this time again. Oh I'm down for a little cheerful/bouncy Matt. This project seems exciting and fun. Matt also has a great way with words. So unique in its delivery. For example.... "I bought a saltwater fish for a colorblind witch." man , where do some of those lyrics come from??

These are my favourites "I had a secret meeting in the basement of my brain"
"You can put a blue ribbon on my brain"
"Sorrow found me when I was young. Sorrow waited, sorrow won"
"Serve me the sky with a big slice of lemon"
"My angel face is falling. Feathers are falling on my feet"

Just got my ticket at 10:01! The best of luck to get yours too, @id1edreamer and Lennon2217! Both of you know that, but this was my first National gig on the day when Dutch had to play World Cup 2010 semi-final. Venue had to ask the band if they could play earlier and they did (at 19 PM!) with orange outfit. After the gig, we all could watch the game on a big screen. Good time.

They did that as a "performance art" performance. Jay Z did something similar, also at the MOMA. It is conceptual art performance.
Read up on performance art, if you don't know anything about it. Its an interesting medium, because you have to be present in the room - it's different than video medium, it's like watching a band live but instead its art, however it gives way to A LOT and I mean A LOT of bullshit (source: ex-girl went to art school). I mean just look at recent artist performances like the lame one that Shia "even stevens" did, where he said he was raped.
Often too many times performance art fall into the trap that a lot of modern art falls into which is being overly conceptual and relying too much on shock factor.
As for the national, I used to really like them but they are a mood band for me now. Don't really listen to them that much, kinda became a little too subdued in their craft. Alligator to High Violet is a superb run.

It's a great band and I really love them, but they've got more and more casual fans with "Troubel Will Find Me". Nothing wrong with it of course, but still.

I just can't figure out, why the world didn't discover them with Alligator and Boxer. Both records are nothing, but marvelous. Maybe it wasn't right time, I don't know.

Back when The National were a "smaller" club band I use to see them in concert all the time. I think between 2005 and 2008 I saw them 5-6 times. I miss the days of going to see them at Johnny Brenda's in Philadelphia and only 200 people watching. That was awesome. Now they are a big band, play big ass theaters/venues. Hats off to them.

i think i've worked out the chords for this song, it's basically the same for the whole song: D C G D7 scratched a ticket with the leg of a cricket and i got triple jesus.... etc, etc.... there might be a slight change for the 'don't make me wait for you...' part, but i'm not sure. *novice guitar player here, so my chords might be all wrong! but they sound good to my ears anyway.

Glad someone else agrees High Violet is their best! Most people I've seen talk about it say Alligator or Boxer are their best but I'd have High Violet just ahead of both of them. They're all great albums though!

"I was just a dark moody kid, romantically disgruntled and felt like a dork, and using The Smiths and The Cure to find kindred spirits. I was thinking about how I fell in love with music and my cousin Peter telling me how he’d seen The Ramones and The Smiths in [local nightclub] The Jockey Club – to me, Morrissey being in Cincinnati was like spotting a unicorn in your backyard.”
