First impressions? Standout tracks? Where would you put it among their other albums? I have seen TONS of 9 and 10 star reviews. Very excited, I can't WAIT to hit the record shop on Friday. Aside from Record Store Day, there are very few times where walking into a record shop feels like an event for me anymore. THIS is one of those times. |

It's mad early for me to rank it within The Nationals space time continuum. Check back later for that. A key for this album is you have to be ok with Matt taking a backseat at many points during many of the tracks. Loads and loads of female guest vocalists. All rather excellent. Even the instrumentals are good. Early highlights: Quiet Light, Oblivions, I Am Easy To Find, Where Is Her Head, Rylan, Light Years |

A key for this album is you have to be ok with Matt taking a backseat at many points during many of the tracks. I will be honest, that sounds a lot to me like leaving the Mercedes in the garage and taking the Ford Fiesta out for a spin instead. But I can't be judgemental until I actually hear it for myself. I mean, I will admit I didn't really care much for Sleep Well Beast when it first came out and now it is my 2nd favorite National album behind High Violet. But at any rate, thank FUCK we have some new National to get us through the Dad Disco era of L4E !!! 👍👍 |

I will have my 2nd listen this morning after breakfast. There's a lot going on in these songs, definitely going to be one of those albums where on the 5th, 20th, 100th, and 500th listens you hear something you never realized was there before. Matt does... "disappear" a lot. But thanks to Lennon I was prepared for that. The production is absolutely stellar, I love the little choral bits. Lastly, I'm curious to see how these songs are going to come off live. Especially in a bigger venue like Boston's Agganis Arena.

Matt and Carin’s lyrics are always incredible and impactful. They're an incredible couple. So what's your favourite songs from this new album, my fellow The National fan? Mine is "The Pull of You", "Hey Rosey", "I Am Easy To Find", "Not In Kansas", "So Far So Fast" and absolutely the ending track with Matt's vocal "Light Years". Surely Matt's step back is what we've never been experienced before, but to me it works quite well (Matt giving vocals to other artists). This album is nothing similar to their previous albums and certainly not dark as Boxer (which is my most favourite album of theirs), yet it's The National. You know what I mean? I'm sure you do, @id1edreamer and Lennon2217! Lisa Hannigan contributed to "The Pull Of You", "Not In Kansas", "So Far So Fast", "Hairpin Tunes" and Kate Stables from This Is The Kit (they supported The National on their 2014 European tour) on "I Am Easy To Find", "Not In Kansas" and "Ryan". A quality job! |

Available About Today Mr. November All The Wine Fake Empire For the album, I would recommend my personal favourite, The Boxer and Alligator, but you can start with High Violet. The world finally found The National with this fantastic album 9 years ago. |
