So Serge and Tom say a new album is tentatively due next June in time for their homecoming gigs in Leicester. This is great news. I was just wondering the other day what their next album status was, 2011 was a long time ago.
Can you feel it coming?

They are a very hit and miss band. BUT Velociraptor was amazing, by far their best output. Unlike their other albums, it was consistenly good, with a theme of drug induced paranoia. Brillant.
If the follow up is just as good, I think Kasabian will finally cement themselves as a more dominate band - should have already, they have so much talent.

The BEST news I've heard in a while, they're one of my favorite bands around. The chemistry between Tom and Serge is amazing, and I think they've produced some of the best albums of my life time so far, with Velociraptor! being my favorite, what an album!

a lot of potential in this band but after their debut, I just haven't really been impressed with them bar a handful of songs.
this band is like an athlete that seems to have all the right tools (primal scream, oasis influences), put on a great show, but they never seem to put it all together. Its pretty frustrating haha. They really haven't put together what I'd call a "great" album (8/10) since their debut and calling their debut "great" is even a reach when compared to other bands great albums.
that said they're a monster live and I'm always ready to check out their tunes but I've been disappointed with them for awhile.

Wes Rider is amazing, and now they have all the ingredients to do their definitive album.

After all these years I still prefer their debut the most. West Ryder a close 2nd. Always some great songs but never the complete package. On the other hand, they are an epic live experience.

I used to be a big fan of this band, but I became tired and bored of them. I think their debut is fantastic - instant, quick, energetic. It's typical of a lot of debut albums - it's got a youthful energy to it, full of vitality. A great record to run to. I could go on and on about with old cliches describing a typical debut album, which is very good thing in my opinion.
Seriously dropped the ball on Empire (apart from title track and Doberman) - remember Shoot The Runner with the most cringeworthy moment in music ever - 'I'm the king and she's my queen.... BITCH!'. The other two albums aren't nearly as bad, quite good in moments, but largely forgettable for me. I said in a previous post that punchy tracks turned into meandering pointless psychedelic jams, and I think the band are largely short of inspiration these days.
I've also grown to dislike Tom and Serge. Tom's arrogance is astounding considering he can't sing - his voice has got that confrontational character to sing energetic tracks like Club Foot, Empire - but when he sings a conventional pop song like Goodbye Kiss, it's excruciating. Everything they say and do is just a faux Gallagher act and seems like a desperate bid for attention.
They are both so incredibly fake it's unbelievable - if Simon Cowell did manufactured rock acts, these guys would fit the bill perfectly.

To me, their first album was/is the best work they've ever done and the West Ryder was a good album, but I even don't own their last album. I've seen them 9 times live since 2005 and I enjoyed each of them, but I have to agree with matt at some point.

Fun tune despite that lyric. I do agree, Empire was a let down. They rebounded well with West Ryder. I think they make better singles than albums.

Love them, one of the last real bands not faking it.
Calling them fake is bullshit. I don' t have anything against with them being a bit cocky and arrogant 'casue they are one of the biggest and best bands in post Oasis era, so I have to gisagree with matt.

When they're good they are very good, its just not often enough IMO
4 albums in and really there are only a handful of songs that i actually like, a few from their first, a couple from the 2nd but mostly from the 3rd. Velociraptor i personally though was pretty dire.
Will probably buy the new album, but I'm not expecting anything great to be honest.

Always loved Kasabian, West Ryder was their best album for me.
Heading down south to go to the gig in Leicester, should at least be new material even if their next album isn't out by then.

I love them, like all four albums, especially "Empire" and am very much looking forward to that 5th album and maybe, hopefully a full tour that will bring them near me because I'd love to see them live. As for fake or no fake, who cares? I want to listen to their music, not impress anybody.
