I'm watching The 2006 Rock N Roll Hall of Fame and thought of this one.
What year do you reckon Oasis'll be enducted into The Rock N Roll Hall of Fame? I say 2014 Can you imagine, the band that gets to give them the honers, how they feel having to cover some kick ass Oasis tunes, and know that Liam and Noel are in the audience. Fuck man, if I knew how to play, that be one of most ultimate highs. What two songs in thier canon would you play? I'd pick; Live Forever Let there be Love

Groups are only qualified for induction only 25 years after the first record. So i'd think oasis might get a chance to get there sometime at 2019. The songs i'd pick probably would be Live Forever and Wonderwall

I doubt they'll ever get a chance especially if they wrap it up within the next 5-7 years..... but they certainly would deserve it cos they're probably THE 90's band. those first two albums really defined an era are musically strong as anything done by the beatles or led zeppelin.
anyway the people who vote for the nominees and inductees are music snobs and big executives and people that oasis never played the game for so I doubt it... still I reckon it'd be cool to see 'em there..
in a hypothetical case I'd say Live Forever and Don't Look Back in Anger ahould be the songs they choose for it. or maybe Champagne Supernova instead of DLBIA.
if Oasis get one more shot at conquering America they'll for sure be in that Hall of Fame

I'd say eventually but maybe not the first couple of years or so.
The thing is there are a lot of bands that are big that never cross over from there home country. This whole idea that Oasis didn't crack the U.S. is bollocks.
All those 90's shows on VH1, Oasis is on.
They sold around 7 million records here and look what they have done in UK and rest of world.
Any band that sells out MSG in unde an hour belongs in.
They will surely be in the UK rock n roll hall and also belong in the U.S. one.

I'm pretty sure some lame ass bands have sold out MSG...like Motley Cru...or the Backstreet Boys (boy BANDS)... Let's not have that be a standard

and let's not forget the album sales for they're last 3 studio albums. non of them has surpassed 200.000 albums which is just too low for a country that big..... They did not crack the US. even Noel knows they didn't. had their fall tour in 96 been successful it would've been a different story but Liam and his rock'n'roll antics....

another clever invention by some label CEO to justify record sales as the only quality to grant you accolade and recognition. i'm sure gwen stefani will be inducted someday..
cliff richard is in the hall of fame..nuff said.

Oasis makes it in no problem. I know it is an american thing but the h.o.f. does ( or are starting to) recognize proper acts. Even MTV had Oasis as # 16 in thier greatest 22 bands of the MTV era.

This topic popped up several months ago…
Whether or not they make it, or what their "standing" is going to be by the time 2019 rolls around, is anyone's guess, but I'll say now what I send then about the RRHoF and Oasis potential membership in it — who cares?
Sure, the RRHoF is cool on some level, I guess, but if Oasis doesn't make it, they'll be with some good company:
The Jam T Rex Cheap Trick Rush (who I don't like, by the way, but think they should probably be in there) ABBA (yeah, I said ABBA! If freakin' Billy Joel is in there [which he is], ABBA deserves to be)
And that's just the shortlist.
All the artists I listed above have been eligible for inclusion for years, and I could make a strong case for each and every one of them. There are probably a few more someone could name who deserve a spot. I'm not going to argue the merits or demerits of my shortlist — I'm just saying that if Oasis doesn't make it, it really doesn't matter.
I'll see you all tonight in Indy!

Well in or out they DID crack the U.S. What is cracking anyway? Radiohead then did NOT CRACK the U.S. They have 3 albums that went platinum but none multi platinum. Oasis has one that is 4.5 multi platinum (MG) and two others platinum in DM & BHN. BHN went to #2 in the charts. Wonderwall & Champagne Supernova we're all over the radio including Don't Go Away. Plus they have a Video (There & Then) that went gold. Wonderwall also went platinum as a download singlr and Champagne went Gold. They were the one band featured in VH1's look at 1996. It may have been brief but 'cracking' the U.S. they did. www.riaa.com/gp/database/search_results.aspI'm not sure Oasis blew the doors down in the U.S., but they surely cracked it!

I honestly don't think they'll get in. Lynyrd Skynyrd, one of the greatest, if not THE greatest, American band ever JUST got in, way after thier 25 year milestone.
In America, I don't think Oasis really had a revolutionary effect. Sure most Americans like the band and know a few songs, but they're not embedded in most people's minds as being great. They'll need 2 or 3 or maybe even 4 truly amazing albums to get in.
Honestly, a future rock n roll hall of fame band doesn't play to an audience of 2,500.

Eventually. I believe Zeppelin only got in last year so who knows how long? Oasis will be in there one day, once Noel and Liam are old and crusty.

MSG was the only huge American venue the boys sold out. Could you imagine Lynyrd Skynyrd playing to an audience of 2,500 (if they were all still alive of course)? It just doesnt fit. I'm not saying that theres no chance of them getting in, but I do think they need to make another HUGE crack in America to do it. I'm saying like 95-96 over again.

By the time Oasis have been going 25 years I think it will be easier to get into the R'n'R HoF. Bands like Skynyrd are only just getting in now cos the Hall has onoly been running so many years, and they can only induct so many bands a year, and let's be honest they had the Beatles, Stones etc to get through before now.
By 2020 or whatever it will probably be easier to get in, which is not to say that Oasis don't deserve it outright on merit, cos they surely do. If Radiohead make it then Liam and Noel damn sure should.
By the way, I'd recommend visiting the HoF itself, it's absolutely great. I spent 8 hours in there and wasn't bored. It's the only fun thing I saw in all of Cleveland! ;-)

The Rock N' Roll Hall of fame is a shit honor anyway the people who decide who gets in are a bunch of suits who don't even know good music, they judge completly on popularity in the US, and go by album sales, so I think if Oasis ever does make it in it'll be long after most other American 90's bands do.
But to your question I think I'd play Slide Away and Live Forever
