Hey Swedes, do you know this band from Sweden? That's my brother playing guitar I may have heard the name of the band, but it's not really my cup of tea. Best of luck to your brother though!

In America we have this guy called Bob Log III. He has a song called "Boob Scotch". He invites a young girl on stage and dips a breast into his scotch and he drinks it. Oddly enough I've seen him live twice. Fuck.

At the start of 2000's there were many great Finnish bands around gaining lots of airplay around the globe. Before I can recommend my own favourites I have to mention those usual suspects you've very likely heard: Sandstorm by Darude, Freestyler by Bomfunk MC's, The Rasmus' In the Shadows & HIM's Join me in Death. And now to my own picks: One of my favourite songwriters of all time, Jori Sjöroos and his dreampop band Magenta Skycode: As a fan of early Bee Gees and all things baroque pop, I was very pleased to find this band from 1970's: Seili was the best selling album of 2010 in Finland and for a good reason. This single off the album got overplayed on radio but there's no denying it's bloody good:

Nothing impressive about America. That is all. Well considering the big bangs of pop music originate from America, then no America = no popular music.

Isn't he actually Spanish or something though? He's half Spanish/half Dutch. Saw him supporting Weller last week and he was really good. I'm impressed.

This band, obviously. Myslovitz. Of course now they are merely a shadow of their former self after Artur Rojek (lead singer and songwriter) decided to pursue a solo career, but in late nineties to early noughties they were considered to be the next big thing to come out of Poland, and were compared with many great British bands, mostly Radiohead and Oasis. They even had an English language album released in Europe, but that didn't amount to much. A bloody shame.
