Because I believe there is brilliant music that the international public will never hear because of the language/region barrier, I think this thread is a good opportunity for us to find great artists from countries whose mother language isn't english. So, I ask the live4ever users to share and try to impress the international listeners. Of course residents in english speaking countries can contribute perhaps by sharing artists that are only regionally known. Either old or new music is welcome

A band from my country, Greece. "Ξύλινα Σπαθιά" which in Greek means "Wooden Swords".
They were one of the most famous rock bands here in the 90's.
A song from "Πέτρος Θεοτοκάτος", who gained success in the 90's too.
Post 2000, rock music here is nearly dead. We don't have many rock bands that would actually change the mainstream music.

Great thread, putthisin!
From the edge of this rainy clogland, I can proudly introduce these 4 bands to all the good people on L4E. It's been a good year!
Soul Sister Dance Revolution
Mozes and the Firstborn
Mister and Mississippi
Traumahelicopter
I've seen all 4 bands live and they're all very good live. You do need to wear earpluggs for Soul Sister Dance Revolution and Traumahelicopter btw.

"Blue Boy" by Orange Juice is all time best of my best favourite song! I have The Associates LP somewhere in my house. PS: you forgot The Twilight Sad and Broken Records!

Also check out this band. Whoever is into Dream Pop/Indie Pop should definitely check them. One of the most promising Greek bands right now.

I'm from argentina, and the two biggest bands are Soda Stereo and Los Redondos, they are from the late 80's/early 90's and they even had some kind of Blur vs oasis thing back in time. I'm a big Soda Stereo fan, they are like a mix between oasis, the cure, u2. His singer (Cerati)is probably the most talented musician in South America.

There's still good rock n roll in the States. Especially here in New Orleans, LA.

This is Chico Science & Nação Zumbi, from Brazil, a fantastic band from the 90's, they didn't imitate the rock that came from USA or UK, they create their own sound, a fusion of brazilian sound and rock music.
In 1994(or 1995) The New York Times choose their debut album, "Da Lama ao Caos", as one of the 10 best albums of that year, much because of their originality.
Warning: It may blow your minds, meet the brazilian powerfull drums and percussion work.

Really fun idea for a thread!
There'll be no ABBA, but I hope you'll find some enjoyment out of these probably lesser known Swedish tracks that I'm presenting you:
One of my favorite intros, I'll leave it at that
Dutch immigrant who turned out to become one of Swedens most beloved singer/songwriters
There's actually an English version of this one if you're intrested, but it's not even close to this if you ask me. The guy somply sounds better in Swedish
Here's one in English for you
And we'll finish off with some punk...
...as well as with some instrumental jazz...
I dont know if anyone will appreciate this, but it was fun putting it together anyway. And what else would I be doing half past two in the middle of the night?

I liked Soul Wax about 10 years ago or so. I have one album by them. dEUS and Balthazar are quite known outside Belgium as well.
Here's some from this clogland:
This young man is supporting Weller's 3 Dutch gigs next mongh.
I used to like Moke in past. Really loved their debut album and saw them many times. I sent a copy of their debut album to my friend in UK and he loved it. They supported Weller at Paradiso in 2008. They were the first Dutch "Britpop" band, but shame what they became now.
Side note: the guitarist of the band is Max Meser's manager now and he's a huge Weller fan.

Everything you need to know about rock and roll in 2 minutes.
And not only that they had that swagger, power, guitars, vocals... before Oasis, they also played with Johnny Depp in before Oasis, in Belgrade in 1992. Singer is telling Johnny Depp, in Serbian, that he will fuck his girlfriend tonight, that also sounds like something that Liam would do.

Thanks to funhouse for reminding me to add more Kent, still mourning their breakup last year:
I'll have to stop there or this post will soon have 30 more links in it.

So I'm not the only swede on here? On the issue of Kent, I honestly thought it was about time, since I never loved the turn they took in 2007(?). Bur with that said, Taxmannen is one heck of a tune!

You were not alone in that view for sure. I for one find that Röd and Tillbaka Till Samtiden are their best albums and that all the ones after that were good to great (except Tigerdrottningen which was meh). This would be their best to worst imo, with album titles translated for fun: 1. Röd (Red) - 2009 2. Tillbaka Till Samtiden (Back to the Contemporary - works as a pun in Swedish since "the future" = "framtiden") - 2007 3. Vapen & Ammunition (Guns & Ammo) - 2002 4. Du & jag döden (You & Me Death) - 2005 5. En plats i solen (A Place in the Sun) - 2010 6. Jag är inte rädd för mörkret (I'm Not Afraid of the Dark) - 2012 7. Då Som Nu För Alltid (Then and Now Forever) - 2016 8. Verkligen (Really) - 1996 9. Hagnesta Hill - 1999 10. Isola - 1997 11. Tigerdrottningen (The Tiger Queen) - 2014 12. Kent - 1995
