I created the same topic awhile ago, but I just re-discovered them. Really like them - so uplifting. They were a huge band in the 90s.
They even supported and opened for Oasis once.
Brilliant band, overlooked on this forum....

Brilliant band, overlooked on this forum.... They are overlooked because they were only huge for 1 album in 1996. That was a long long time ago. Blue was an underrated follow up I'll give you that. Everything after that was "ehhh" and with long gaps between albums the world lost interest.

I've only got their first album and it is very very good. Don't have any other ones, and judging by reception I probably won't bother to seek them out. They're one of those bands I never really intentionally listen to but when they pop up on my ipod I won't turn them off.

I only know their hit album, but damn Semi-Charmed is a tune. Great riff. A 90's classic for sure.

Well don't get use to these guys now, Stephen Jenkins says the new album 3EB are working on will be the band's last.

When did they open for Oasis?
A funny story about Semi Charmed Life: apparently it was used in a television advert for Disney cruises. They apparently didn't notice the very explicit references to crystal meth. Once they did, they removed it. But it is a little funny.

They opened for Oasis in early 1996 in San Francisco, Third Eye Blind's home town.

Love Third Eye Blind. Stephan Jenkins is a terrific songwriter in my book. Great melodies, passionate playing, and lyrics that were real. One of the signature bands of the 90s rock/alternative scene in my opinion. Everytime I hear the opening guitars in Semi-Charmed Life or Jumper, it takes me back. They've had some lineup changes over the years, but they're another 90s band that is still doing its thing.

My favorite Third Eye Blind song after all these years remains "How's It Going To Be". Other strong contenders are "Losing A Whole Year" and "Narcolepsy". Love the lyric about sliding into another nightmare.

These guys really started to dominate the radio/tv landscape around my sophomore year in high school. It probably lasted until the end of 1998, early 1999. When you think about it, they had so many songs (Semi-Charmed Life, How's It Going To Be, Jumper, Graduate) in regular rotation not only on FM radio but MTV/VH1/MuchMusic. It's amazing that on their next album people lost interest so fast. I think that album is even better than their debut. You know what is also crazy, Stephen Jenkins is 49 years old!
