I never cared much for MJ. He had a few good tunes, like Beat It, Billy Jean, Don't stop til you get enough and Thriller and probably a few more, but it's not my taste plus I hate the whole hype around him and it's all a bit idiotic. Oh yeah, and I also hate how they're trying to milk and cash in on his career with that ''new album''. And now they're doing one of MJ with Freddie Mercury. I hate this, they're dead, just let them rest and leave their music alone.
Elvis was awesome, but also not really my taste. A lot of that rock and roll sounds a bit samey, doesn't it? Can't help but dancing whenever one of his tunes come on the radio though.
The Beatles are the winners for me. They're my absolute favourite band ever and they pushed boundaries with their music and created music in a lot of genres. They were also quite intelligent and had a great sense of humour. Yep. They're the only band I could listen to for weeks on end.

Michael Jackson had one classic album (off the Wall) one great album (Thriller) but to say he's better then a Band who created 6 to 7 masterpieces, a ton of awesome singles. the Beatles win this everyday of the week for me. No contest.

"Without Elvis there would be no Beatles" - John Lennon
But they also carved their own legacy
MJ broke racial barriers for the MTV era so theres that but overall IMO
The Beatles/Elvis>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>MJ

I don't believe anybody has sold a billion.. According to Certified sales 1. The Beatles (259.7 million) 2. Elvis (207.8 million) 3. MJ (172.9 million)

The Beatles must come closest but to me Elvis has sold the most records total (singles and albums together), without doubt. MJ is a distant 3rd.

I just read more tabloid fodder regarding the maids revelations, which are now making me believe of Jackson's guilt. Don't get me wrong, I still think he was mentally ill and should have been taken care of instead of castigated, and I do know tabloids are always full of shite especially when it comes to exploitation of celebrities for a quick buck. He was a sick individual, regardless, but the question is whether or not he can be held fully accountable. I dunno.

Look at the way he was brought up. That is not a normal upbringing. That certainly affected him.
Oh cool, I just reached a 100 posts. Fucking hurrah. What am I now? A fucking roadie or something?

Oh aye, his dad was pushy and forced him on the stage from an early age (if he hadn't, would Jacko have been able to live the life he led? You don't get to own a private theme park on a 9 to 5 office job salary that's for sure) and yes he hit him, but so have millions of other fathers thoughtout the ages. It's not nice but it happens, take our very own Gallagher brothers for instance. Noel got the bront of his drunken scum-bag fathers physical abuse and he just got on with it and made himself a star through raw songwriting talent. You don't see Noel or Liam sneaking 10 year old kids in bed with them do you? Load of bollocks imo, he wore that like a medal his whole life as if to excuse him from any wrongdoings. How weak could you be that at 30-odd years old having sold countless records and received the adulation of millions worldwide that you still give a crap about your abusive father who beat you when you were a teen? Just forget about it for Christ sake! D'you think Noel or Liam wasted a moments thought on their dad over the years (apart from when the tosses at News Of The World tried to spring him in them of course)?

www.nme.com/news/michael-jackson/79094What on earth? His maid telling us that he walked through animal shit in his house and threatened to fling it at her? Can't imagine The Beatles or Elvis doing this to be honest.

A lot of music markets still didn't exist back in Elvis's period (the US and the UK were the only two important ones) and he also never toured outside the US (because his manager was an illegal immigrant). The Beatles were the first true global pop phenomenon.

Elvis has the most Gold, Platinum, and Multi-Platinum sales of all of us.... amazing man... simply amazing".

Can't imagine The Beatles or Elvis doing this to be honest. "Doo doo snowballs"? Oh, ffs! Interesting how the maid says he "HAD to pay that boy off". He always said he did it just so he didn't have to go through a long, distressing trial like OJ Simpson (probably not a good idea to compare yourself to him) but this sounds like he really had no choice on the matter...

Elvis's certifications outside the US still do not come anywhere near The Beatles. And i bet i can find you a link from a Beatles or MJ blog like the one you just sent. Sorry, just don't see how Elvis could come close if we talk globally, he still slays though regardless.

According to some industry sources, the Beatles were actually the biggest selling group of the 1990s (outselling even their own 1960s figures). That sounds unlikely but the 1990s of course, saw the group release three double ANTHOLOGY albums plus a double LIVE AT THE BBC album, along with three "new" singles (BABY IT'S YOU, FREE AS A BIRD and REAL LOVE). There was also repackaging of old previously released material like THE YELLOW SUBMARINE SONGTRACK CD. As Noel Gallagher has pointed out - when he was trying to evaluate Oasis sales figures - Apple have steadfastly refused to release Beatles sales figures post the 1960s so nobody is really sure.
