Also number one in Ireland. Pretty incredible to match up to The Beatles! Still relevant at 41.

I think the new song is berserk or whatever it's called, complete shit, it sounds like an angry fucker going mad at himself while some music is on in the background.

lol evidently nobody in this thread has ever listened to an Eminem album. Dude is mad talented, still being one of the biggest artists around 15 years later reflects that.
If you think about it, him and Oasis have had a similar career curve so far. Both of their first 3 albums (if we're counting TM) are widely regarded as classics of their respective genre. Next 2 are pretty average for reasons related to drugs - in Eminem's case being on them, and in Oasis' case getting off them. Which in itself provokes an interesting discussion on stimulitant drugs (what both Eminem and Oasis were on during their first 3 albums) vs depressant drugs (what Eminem and Noel were on during their creatively spent periods), which in both of their cases have led to pretty crappy outputs and in Eminem's case a very long hiatus.
Then came their 6th albums (Recovery and HC), which were huge commercial success and produced big radio hits (Love the way you lie, stop crying your heart out) and ultimately saw a resurgence in their popularities. Though both these albums aren't as well liked by both of the fanbases' core fans, largely for being too commercialized and radio friendly. And then we now got Eminem's MMLP2 which is also similar to Oasis' DBTT in that they've both been received with critical acclaims and have been lauded as taking it back to the roots.
Will be interesting to see what Marshall's DOYS will yield, there's a good chance that his next album will be his last so that could be very fitting too.

Eminem makes rap music whilst Oasis made guitar music. Rap is piss poor most of the time. I like the odd song from Eminem but overall it's too samey and repetitive, it shouldn't be compared to the likes of Oasis or The Beatles imo and it DOES say a lot about the state of today's music imo.

Lol this is why Oasis gets a bad rep, most of their fanbase are unable to venture out of 4 chord guitar music.

A lot of crabby people in this thread. Not a big fan of this album but Eminem is arguably one of the most important musicians of this era.

I hate the neanderthal rock perception Oasis fans have outside this forum.

Well i'd defo consider myself one of these neanderthal Oasis fans to be honest, but even I like Eminem. Well i used to in truth, i still respect him and he still has the skills so to speak, but his last album and what i've heard so far from this new one are seriously lacking in something IMO, its just not the Eminem i remember.
Like rock'n'roll, Rap is or should be a young mans game, a 40 year old bloke doing it just doesn't feel right to me. But i'll always respect Em, for a while when he first came out he was all i listened to. Oasis took a back seat to be honest. But in the long run oasis (and guitar music in general) came out on top. Pretty bored by rap at this point.

I happen to like Eminem. His first two records were simply brilliant and the third one was decent. I feel that he sort of lost his voice since then, I didn't think he had as much to say. I gave the new record a run through and wasn't particularly impressed although I will probably go back and give it another go.

There are plenty of acts well past their 40's that have put out excellent music.

I think what's being overlooked here is forget the Beatles and zep ....abba got 8 like zep ....I love abba. But them nailing 8 number 1 s shows you how insignificant in the rock community attaining number 1 is .....and how amazing zep were to get them ....abba enimen and the Beatles were much more poppy and widespread where as zep didn't get mainstream respect til after they broke up or disbanded as they never broke up .....hell they never even released a single , that's a statement on respect by the fans And the Beatles record came when they were at there poppiest like abba And m&m while not poppy per se appeals to the masses ...zep on the other hand not releasing singles and never getting respect from the rags really shows how they connected to the fans tastes

what about all the wankers who own just hip hop?? because this is an oasis forum with 50% fakes, joining up here making out to be oasis fans to promote wank like Eminem etc ... I don't buy it.
Also lennon2217, I disagree with ''If it aint The Beatles, The Stones, Weller or the Roses then FUCK YOU''
I think weller is shit too, as a person he's ok, but I hate his music, he should've quit years ago.
I like the stones but I don't own a rolling stones cd & the stone roses only made 1 good album, except few tracks on second coming.
I doubt you get Kanye west fans praising the beatles, stone roses, oasis on their forums, no chance!!
