Quite a few years have passed since the Morning Glory heyday. I was just wondering how big Oasis are considered these days? What records of theirs still stand? I know the 'fastest-selling debut album in UK history' record has just been broken by the Arctic Monkeys, and didn't Coldplay break BHN's 'fastest selling album' record? I want to know whether Oasis' other big achievements still have relevance.
I have pride in thinking that Oasis were just so big when they were at their peak, but I've heard recent reports that muppets like Robbie Williams are selling record quantities of tickets to live shows and so on. I can't believe he played Knebworth! I always thought that was a venue only associated with Oasis.
Have other bands superseded them in terms of size/ popularity/ omnipresence, or is the Oasisteria of the 90's still untouchable?

No, Oasis still got BHN as fastest selling album, not to mention Morning Glory is the 2nd best selling British album after Sgt. Pepper's which is saying alot.
Yeah, I can't imagine that a fag like Robbie Williams could play Knebworth after bands like Oasis and Led Zeppelin performed there.
I think Oasis is still big. Even though they are a cult band here in America they still sell out concerts and can claim more fame then other Britpop acts of the 90s, even more then The Stone Roses atleast in America. It's obvious that Oasis is huge in the UK, especially with DBTT. I don't think any of their albums failed to gain alot of airtime on the radio except possible SotSoG, which wasn't very radio friendly to begin with.
Is Oasis still as popular as they were in the 90s? No way. Have other bands been able to excite the public like Oasis did? Don't think so. Coldplay got some backlash for X & Y being overrated I believe(Nothing as much as BHN though), and other big debut brands either broke up(The Libertines)or seemed to have faded away. Alot of the bands don't have the drive Oasis had. The energy to go all the way to the top. I don't think we'll ever see a band like that for a while.

BHN sold 455,00 in 2 days. X + Y sold 430,000 in a week. As far as I am aware WTSMG is actually the biggest selling brittish album ever released.

Oasis still have a big fanbase around the world.
They always sell out their gigs.
It's just that the critics don't do any justice with them. And sadly casual fans believe the critics which is sad.
oh and oasis need to be promoted more! by the fucking label.

Go to Wikipedia and you'll find all that info.
Quite a few of Oasis's 'records' have been broken. But who cares about that! it's the songs that count and they still have the best fookin' songs around , no doubt.

I hate to say it, but I don't think Oasis could crack the top 30 most popular bands in America right now.

For two days in 96, they were the biggest band in the world. In my world they'll always be the biggest

oasis, i think, have an understated bigness to them. i so made up that word but anyway. i mean they still sell out big venues all around the world. in singapore they paid a million bucks to get them over, i dont know what other bands are paid, but the way the newspaper article referred to it, thats more than usual for big bands. i think DBTT really elevated their status and credibility in a lot of places - nowhere near the mid nineties fame, but still are one of the worlds big rock bands, in the league of U2 and Coldplay (who along with red hot chili peppers and greenday, are like the 'it' rock bands. the ones that EVERYONE likes, but dont necessarily love) EVEN if they arent always liked as much as the other two are
i think even if many people dont like oasis, most people have heard of oasis - it might be just wonderwall and the gallaghers say 'fuck' a lot but at least they know that.
