Wait,ASGOG is a bonus track,if I can count them too I think Alone on the rope is easily the best and probably his best song with Everybody's on the run as a solo artist

Not a fan of The Good Rebel. Decent b-side but I'm glad that it wasn't on the album
LTLSALOM is my favorite of his b-sides so far and the only one I might have liked to see on the album. I'd pick you everytime is nice as well but I find it such a different type of song that I don't think it would fit into the flow of the album very well. It's perfect as a sweet little b-side.
HFB may be one of the first times that I think that Noel got a track listing right though so I don't actually even have too many gripe. I would have loved for AOTR or ASGOG to fit in somewhere but I suppose they aren't b-sides so aren't applicable here

Then 5-6 minutes after it fades have Stop The Clocks as a hidden track. Would have been a nice surprise.

For me it would be I'd Pick you Every Time. I think Noel's vocals sound great and I love the Nashville Skyline approach of it.
I like Let the Lord Shine A Light On Me, but sometimes it wanes. It always feels like its more of him dipping his toe into experimentation and stopping just short. Also for that matter, sometimes I feel like the song is a bit too short. I feel like it could have gone some place else. Granted we're judging a b-side, but if you're going to push your limits, wouldn't it be one a b-side. It's a good song, it just fall short for me.

And ASGOG would have been a stronger ender than STC. Personal the most interesting thing about STC for me is how long it took for us to get it. Least favourite song on the album but I'm glad it's out so people can stop going on about it. Both ASGOG and even more so AOTR were so underutilized for such great songs. They stand up with the best from that era

Granted a listened to the leaked demo a billion times between 2008 and 2011. It just doesn't sound like it was recorded right. I hate that thin, tinny mellotron intro. I'd like it more if it sounded more organic. ASGOG could have been an epic finale to HFB. Remember the soundcheck version? It was over 10 minutes long and had Neil Young/Rust Never Sleeps guitar solos. It sounded huge. I wish it was that large on the recording.

It's not a b-side exactly but Alone On A Rope is sublime. Just shades past Broken Arrow for me as the best HFB song and in fact one of the best he's written in years. Beautiful stuff from Noely G.

I'm still waiting for one music journalist or radio DJ to ask him about that song! I want some details about it.

I've scarcely listened to Noel's b-sides, but that 'Gas Panic' sounding one stood head and shoulders above the rest (Let The Lord Shine A Light On Me I think? Not sure)

Although technically a bonus track. Beautiful melody and piano. Was privileged to see him perform it live at TCT in March.

Id agree with the OP, between those 2 songs, slightly edging towards 'I'd pick you every time' But was Simple Game of Genius released as a b-side? Not sure but if so i'd put that in the mix also. It was a bonus track on the Japanese edition, otherwise it definitely would have been my favourite B-Side. My second choice would have been Freaky Teeth but again that's not a B-Side. My third choice would have been Shoot a Hole into the Sun with AA. But again that's not a B-Side!

A Simple Game of Genius, AMAZING SONG! Not technically a b-side, but still a top quality tune! It was the one thing I was a wee bit worried about with Noel's solo career. Oasis have had some of the best b-sides ever, but most people these days (mostly people in my age group 16-20) don't even know what b-sides are. I think you can see the decline in quality of b-sides in the second half of Oasis' life. Excluding some of the absolutely top notch songs like Shout It Out Loud, the later day b-sides wernt near the standard of The Masterplan songs. But, The Chief did not disappoint, and I can easily say that I have loved all of Noel's original b-sides....I know ive kinda dragged this on, but i've been waiting to say this for a while :L Personally, I think LTLSALOM is the best, but the other two are still fantastic. I just really love the lyrics and the over-all feel of the song.

Stop worrying about what counts as a b-side and what doesn't people. If you want to obsess then nothing other than a tune pressed onto vinyl really counts as a b-side...
For the purposes of this debate I'd say all the HFBs b-sides and other bonus tracks are fair game. In the days of 3 b-sides per single we'd get 12 extra tracks and that's a similar number to all the HFB extras.
ALL the extra tracks for HFB were really good, which was great because the latter day Oasis b-sides were lacking.
Shoot a Hole was my favourite.
I like ASGOG but that opening Cecilia line makes me cringe for some reason.

Yeah.........in this current musical climate, with digital singles via iTunes, proper b-sides we all grew up with are going out of fashion. To me a "b-side" is becoming whatever bonus tracks don't make an official album release or stand alone single. It is sad to write that but the world has changed immensely since the late 90s. Does anybody else remember standing in line at record stores at midnight to get hot new releases? That use to be so much fun and it is now extinct with albums leaking online weeks before. I think I just dated myself.

alone on the rope and simple game of genius are the two best songs noel came up with under his high flying birds moniker. they are up there with his best songs from the 90ies. whoever advises him on what to put on an album and what not should be shot to dead (or at least kicked in the balls. twice.). it's a fuckin shame that a gem like alone on the rope was published as a fuckin amazon bonus song!

Noel doesn't need anyone to give him advice on bad track decisions, he's pretty good at that himself!
