Brilliant. I love all the versions of Don't Look Back in Anger and Cast No Shadow. With the wall of sound on the records, you miss so much. These sacds capture all the little things that make the songs special.

I'm particularly fond of this video of DLBIA in which you can hear Noel's ebow part which you only clearly hear in the released version at the end, Noel's riffs and lines with the ebow are meant to pay explicit homage (rip off if you're being less generous) All the young dudes like the intro is a nod to Imagine. I believe Noel only used the ebow on this track and Champagne Supernova before dropping it entirely after the Morning Glory sessions, he never used it again. Peter Buck was also similarly enamoured of the ebow around this time, using it to sinister effect on REM tracks "E-Bow the letter" and "Walk Unafraid". This video highlights the difference between Paul Weller's and Noel's guitar solos for Champagne Supernova and how their interplay was mixed together on the album.

I've been listening to them on you tube, and like you have both said they make for interesting listening. Just need to get my hands on a copy now!! . There have been some negative reviews though which is a shame,? I say stuff them! In polite terms .

I must say I like the surround sound remix on the SACD, despite the criticism it's had in some reviews. I also love the fact that the multichannel stems from the remix allow you to hear so many details that are hidden in the original mix. They missed a trick by not remastering the original mix though (I guess it was beyond their budget, so instead they used the DAT master prepared for the CD). Still a great addition to the collection though. Shame the proposed SACD of Standing on the Shoulder of Giants never materialised! Imagine a surround mix of Gas Panic...

Never knew what an ebow was until I read your post. I need one! But until now I always thought those parts were played on melodica
