This might help clear up some arguments as to whether Gem and Andy's influence on the band is a good one or a bad one:
(no particular order)
1. "A Bell Will Ring" - Amazing song. Sounds like the Beatles. One of the best Oasis songs ever, in my opinion. 2. "Love Like A Bomb" (Gem co-wrote) - A perfect summer tune. 3. "The Quiet Ones" - Cool acoustic tune which I think doesn't get enough credit. It has a weird feel to it, a kind of weirdness Noel can't really get. 4. "Eyeball Tickler" - Amazing tune. A proper rocker. Didn't even make the album but this could be an opener. 5. "Hung In A Bad Place" - A proper rocker. Very cool groove, which you don't find usually in an Oasis song. 6. "Thank You For The Good Times" - Another one that doesn't get enough credit. It has that Ride sound which is something Oasis is quite good at. Very solid. 7. "A Quick Peep" - Certainly the weekest of this list, but when you take it for what it is, a 1+ minute instrumental, it's a nice change of pace in the middle of the album. 8. "Keep The Dream Alive" - Speaks for itslef. Amazing song with a melody that can melt your soul. 9. "Turn Up The Sun" - Speaks for itself. Proper rocker. The best opener Oasis has ever had, by far.
I'd say they've had a great influence, wouldn't you? These nine songs would make for a hell of an album!
*Let's not forget that Gem is ten times the guitarist Bonehead was, and Andy ten times the bassist Guigsy was.

I mostly agree other than to say that The Quiet Ones is a massive waste of time. A throw-away, nothing, pointless track. Back in the day Oasis wouldn't have thrown out as half-arsed a B-side as that. And Thank You For The Good Times is a good song ruined by lousy, OTT production - the acoustic version by Andy shows the real potential that the tune had.
