Didn't see a thread on here so I thought I'd create one. One of my favorite bands of all time, showed amazing growth throughout their career. Track one of their debut album being the heavy Dead and Bloated and the final of their final album (with Weiland) the beautiful piano-led track Maver. And they touched a lot of different stuff in between.
It's become quite a clusterfuck with all the lineup changes, lawsuits, and nastiness among fans, but I have to say the new song with Chester Bennington called Black Heart is quite good. Do I detect a hint of Liam in the vocals?

Haven't listened to them in like decade, when I was like in middle school. Another typical US MOR band. Not impressed.

Haha yeah they're really not MOR at all. Actually became a very adventurous band, especially from the third album on. Very Beatlesque in their progression. But fair enough, you don't like them.

being American and in my mid 30's makes me have a soft spot for Stone Temple Pilots...
Core was good, Purple was better and i think Tiny Music...Songs from the Vatican Gift Shop might be my favorite album by them.
pretty much lost track of them after that. i thought 'Sour Girl' was alright.
God bless.

the new song sounds like Devo in certain parts, but i'm not a big fan of it.
God bless.

not a fan of STP direction. It seems more PR stunt. Scott Weiland is the voice of that band. It be like Oasis continued with Richard Ashcroft without Liam.
A good interview while back of Scott on Howard Stern. He's pretty honest about his life. I think personal addiction issues and amount of responsibility of making money are reasons why he did what he did.

Awesome name, average band. That's my verdict. Few decent songs. No real talent.

Some great tunes , , took a dip ...nothing without Scott , as Rain above. A bit up there But they had some quality tunes in there prime ... And lullaby. Cool thread. Good to have some old 90 s bands not Oasis here , stp in there day were different , they didn't just play grunge when everyone thought they would make creep2 or plush they made sour girl or interstate love song .......cool band that fell apart at seems. Much lime velvet revolver , l

What next, an REO Speedwagon thread? Styx? After all, 'Mr Roboto,' changed all our lives, right? And this is why I'm not a stereotypical Oasis fan, anything Liam/Noel hates everyone else hates 'Because they said so'. Get a pair.

And that's why a great poster here Elie De Beaufour 🐴, without you and others , this place woulda died years ago with the typical cookie cutter whatever Liam and Noel says is gospel bullshit ...... I love Oasis more or at least as much as anyone can. Ruined a coulple of relationships traveling to see them abroad ...worth every one ! But I like what I like fuck what they think . I love their music , there taste is there own , just as ours are .. Stp had a great run . Made some good shit , if Noel or Liam don't like it , oh well , i do all I care about .

Much lime velvet revolver , l Scott still has his voice, but drugs and ego kind of gotten away of his voice. I will admit Scott doesn't look healthy anymore, but same token he wrote amazing lyrics. He is pretty honest about himself though. By US standard STP most likely one the top 25 bands of the 90's.

Scott Weiland's solo material is better than the DeLeo brothers efforts...
God bless.

I feel sorry for scott for reasons of his childhood and confused soul he is.He is just a lost person. Howard stern interview was the best insight of his life.

Weiland is brown bread. Not a big surprise really given his drug abuse history. RIP.

I've had a really hard time processing this one. I only discovered the band after watching Scott give that infamous performance of Vasoline earlier in the year, I thought fuck, that dudes needs help. But out of interest, I gave the studio version a go and fuck, the vocals, the riff, those vague but somehow coherent lyrics, it all just blew my mind. So since then I've been listening to more and more from the band while keeping tabs on Scotts performances and he really seemed to be performing better recently, even moving about more like the old days but there was always an odd vacant look in his eyes which kinda reaffirmed my opinion that he really needed help. Hearing of his passing on Friday morning was an odd feeling, the dude had a lot of demons, I hope he's found some peace wherever he may be.
