"Throughout their career, Dream Theater's live shows have gradually become bigger, longer, more diverse, and less restrictive. The most obvious example of this is their rotational setlist policy. That is, every single night of every tour has its setlist devised by Portnoy using a meticulous process that ensures it is completely unique. Factors such as setlists from previous cities are taken into account to ensure that people who see Dream Theater multiple times within the same area will not see the same songs performed twice, and even the setlist from the last time the band was in a particular city is taken into account for the benefit of fans who see the band on successive tours. For this to be possible, the band prepares to play the majority of its catalogue at any performance, depending on what Portnoy decides to program for that night." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dream_TheaterImagine if Oasis has a rotating setlist policy like that. You would be going into a gig always seeing something new & hearing not just the classics, but quality older material as well. Here's hoping something like that is done in the future, rather than these repeated setlists.

Sounds like an interesting strategy...too bad Dream Theater sucks... Fucking noise for beard strokers: "Oh I love the 7/8 time and the key changes in this song!"

There's no way to satisfy everyone -- everyone has their own pet favorites that aren't usually performed (at least lately). And there's so many songs that people are going to have to hear at an Oasis show -- there's at least six obligatory ones: CS, Wonderwall, DLBIA, L4E, Cigs & Alc, and R&R Star. Still, they're not a greatest hits act yet. Throw in the fact that they have to play at least as many off the new album, there's limited room for changing around the setlist. As it goes, I think Bring it on Down, MG, Masterplan, and Acquiese are about as good as you're going to get in that department.
That being said, their setlist is way too damn short. I think there would be more opportunity for changing it around from night to night if they were willing to play longer. Plus, you've got to deal with the fact that Liam already has to have many of the lyrics taped to his floor speakers, limited time to rehearse new stuff while they're on tour, and a drummer who doesn't know all the songs.

Look at the Grateful Dead. Nearly 40 years of music and it's believed they've played the same setlist twice. Collecting their shows is an absolute joy, since everyone is unique, nearly 3 hours long, with no song played the same way twice. Not everyone's cup of tea, but nonetheless...

Oasis is Oasis. If ppl don't know by now why they don't change, then they'll never know.

Ya, the Tragically Hip do the same thing... It makes heading to the gig interesting, because you never know what you're going to hear. Granted, they have some that are "sure bets," but then they'll throw out surprises too...
However, Oasis are Oasis, and I'm not sure they could quite pull it off the same way... Liam needs consistency...

You know what... sounds better the way they normally do it
I mean, I was upset when I found out that other people got GGTIA, Acquiesce, or Supersonic when we didn't.
Simply put the band should do it as they do cos we have no right to criticise that. And that Dream Theatre nonsense is retarded. So play completely different things all the time? Seems a but compulsive to me..... And really, what's the point? A lot of people want to hear shows.
Imagine going to an Oasis show and not hearing DLBIA, Live Forever, or even Champagne Supernova.....
