Odd list. I would have added the Arctic Monkeys and Roger waters Dont watch the videos they posted with the acts. They chose some horrible videos. www.rollingstone.com/music/news/50-greatest-live-acts-right-now-20130731The bands Ive seen live on the list 1. Bruce Springsteen- 3hour set list for a 60 yr old and never the same show. Hardest working man in R&R 6. Jay Z- Saw him yrs ago with DMX Methodman and some other early 2000 rappers. Was not impressed. 7. Radiohead- On the In Rainbows tour was a perfect show. 9. Rage Against the Machine- One of the loudest shows Ive ever been to. Wish they toured more. 13. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers-Was like being at a greatest hits show. Real tight band. 23. Pearl Jam- Saw them twice. Arguably the best live American band of the last 20 yrs. 24. Dave Matthews Band- Underrated band. Great musicians. 34. Foo Fighters- Saw them on the joint Weezer tour. They were good but not as fun as their co-headliners 50. Fiona Apple-Odd seeing someone so confident on record seem so shy and reclusive on stage but the girl can definitely sing and play piano.

God bless.

I have seen...
The Rolling Stones Arcade Fire (twice) Neil Young (solo and some of Buffalo Springfield) Radiohead Jack White (twice) My Morning Jacket (and Jim James solo) Wilco (twice) Tom Petty The Black Keys (three times) Paul McCartney Alabama Shakes (as support) Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds (twice) Muse David Byrne and St. Vincent (twice) Sleigh Bells (as support) Florence and the Machine The National (twice) Tame Impala (seven times, eighth time this October) Janelle Monae (support) Sigur Ros Fiona Apple (second time this October) Two Red Hot Chili Peppers songs at a festival
Alright list, terrible order. Macca should at least be second. 71 years old, 2 and a half hour show, all classics. Easily the best show I've ever been to with Arcade Fire a close second. Typical Rolling Stone bias against Macca, goes all the way back to the 70s.
The Rolling Stones good... I dunno, not top five for me. Played the hits, sounded good, but didn't really take it to the next level. Doesn't help that it was in a crappy arena.
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds should be in the top ten, top five even. Absolutely enthralling show, Nick Cave is the most rock n roll man alive. Totally evil show, it was breathtaking both times and easily in my top three shows of this year (along with Macca and Blur).
Black Keys shouldn't be anywhere near the list. First time I saw them (2010) was great, second time (2011) was okay, third time (2012) I was so bored I walked out before the encore (I mostly went to see Arctic Monkeys support). I wouldn't put Muse up there either, but I can understand them making the list. Wouldn't put Sleigh Bells or Florence on the list, certainly not above the phenomenal Fiona Apple and Janelle Monae.
Tame Impala keep getting better and better every time I see them, good to see them on the list.
When I saw Petty the middle of his set had too many boring jams, not my thing. Great when he played the classics though!
Wilco, Radiohead, and Jack White were all phenomenal, but not on the same level as the first time I saw Arcade Fire. That was a religious experience!
I would put The Cure up there, they played 38 songs when I saw them this year! Foals, Bjork and Flying Lotus deserve spots too.

Surely Roger Waters' Wall Tour deserves a place in the list. He puts on an amazing show! Can't expect much from Rolling Stone these days I guess.

I seen alot of those bands , Bruce , U2 , Floyd' ( together and when solo , thought roger put on a better show during pros and cons of hitchiking than Dave did jmo ) petty , macca, young , ect ect ,BUT in the freaking 80 s not 90 s or 2000s ..... That's a kick in the ass . Back to bed goodnight Oh and Bruno your right I didn't see this wall tour saw original . but roger IMO puts on a much better creative and musical show than David ...maybe it was the gig but Dave was stiff , roger very comfortable on stage . Together though as a kid they were great onstage wish i was 25 not 15 when I went though I'm ancient man When I caught them solo they were touring there lps after the final cut ..roger did pros and cons of hitchiking tour ( very underrated lp ) and Dave toured his first solo post floyd after final cut , he seemed outta sorts . On original wall show he was much more comfortable sharing the spotlight , guess that's his nature though still a good show IMO .

Sounded just as good as it does on record and Roger as a performer were fantastic. True story, Cory Feldman sat only 3 rows in front of me. My friends and I kept yelling out: "My Father Stormed The Beaches of Normandy!". He gave us the beer toast motion.

Saw Tom Petty in Noblesville this summer and it was the best show I'd ever been to. Very tight live band...

i hardly ever pay attention to these rolling stone lists and very seldom agree with them but this time they got #1 absolutely correct. foo fighters at #34 is an absolute sham, they should be in the top 10, if not the top 5. i would have the national much higher than #37.
i would also add to the list: the killers phoenix and omd. yes, i said omd. saw them at a club a couple of weeks ago, it was one of the greatest shows i have seen.
