I don't know if this is an old issue or what, but since when did Oasis start lip syncing? Understanble for Liam maybe, because of the trouble with his voice, but Noel too? www.youtube.com/w/Oasis-LetThereBeLove?v=3kzsm0NCzlk&search=oasisI also saw them lip syncing this song in another performance and I'm pretty sure they lip synced on a Hindu Times performance as well.

Pretty much since the start. If you've got the Definitely Maybe DVD, you can see them miming Rock 'n' Roll Star back on Top Of The Pops in 1994. There's always been a mix of mimed and live performances when they're on the telly and it's been no difference this time round, they done Lyla and My Generation live on one show and done Don't Look Back In Anger live on another and mimed all the singles at one time or another.

The thing that cracks me up is how lazily they pretend to sing - the lip syncing is way out and Liam's not even stood anywhere near the mic half the time. Classic....

I'd be pissed if I had to do that.

The RWI mime was classic - really hammered home how much of a sham the whole Blur vs Oasis thing was.
As for lip sync-ing, I thought it was always something to do with the show they're performing on. Aren't all TOTP performances mimed? I don't think I've ever seen one that wasn't.

The Battle of Britpop - 'Roll With It' versus Blur's 'Country House' in the charts.
I don't know about the exact timing, but I think that Oasis getting on TOTP and miming to this served to highlight how insignificant this 'battle' was (or would turn out to become) for Oasis. It was as though they were saying "do you think we care?"

No, that's not the case. In fact, the first two TOTP performances (Shakermaker and Live Forever) had Liam and Noel singing live vocals over the studio backing track. They then mimed everything up to 2000, when Noel, Gem and Zeb done an acoustic version of Sunday Morning Call. In 2002, they done a 7 song live set at TOTP and in 2003, Liam and Gem done an acoustic version of Songbird. They returned to miming for the DBTT songs.

Noel has said that the TOTP performance of Roll With It happened because the band were so pissed off at the fact that Blur were gonna be number one.
Noel was angry that Creation made some cock up with the bar codes on their single which he reckoned meant that not all the sales were officially counted.
So when they turned up at Top of the Pops they decided to get blind drunk and swap instruments. My favourite bit is Liam's "guitar solo", with Bonehead visible behind him wetting himself with laughter.
I think the camera guys sussed it halfway through mind because they quickly stopped showing any close ups of Liam's guitar "playing".
