I'm just listening to Alone On The Rope. It's probably my favourite post-Oasis song and I wish Noel's new album will be more Alone On The Rope and less Dream on

It's probably my favourite post-Oasis song and I wish Noel's new album will be more Alone On The Rope and less Dream on Hey screw you, I happen to think Dream On is one of the best on the album To each his own, but I personally consider it to be one of the weakest on the album and think it is of no relevance. We know that Noel can come up with a good melody, but he can do much better lyricwise than Dream on. But actually Dream On just really fit as a contrast to Alone On The Rope. Dream On as an example for Noel's joyful songs with lyrics that don't really mean a big deal (imo) and AOTR as a somewhat darker edge to his songwriting with thoughtful lyrics and a more unconventional instrumentation (as far as I am able to judge stuff like instrumentation ). I think he should be mostly past his phase of writing songs like Dream On, especially when he is capable of writing beautiful songs in the manner of Alone On The Rope or A Simple Game Of Genius.

Dream On isn't a song I particularly care for but it served a purpose as being a catchy song that people could jump up and down to at gigs. Always got a good reaction from the crowd too. He needed one of those Lyla/Roll With It songs.
For the record, I'd much rather an Alone On the Rope type of song. I think that might be the most mature "post oasis" song we've heard from Noel or BE.

Hey screw you, I happen to think Dream On is one of the best on the album To each his own, but I personally consider it to be one of the weakest on the album and think it is of no relevance. We know that Noel can come up with a good melody, but he can do much better lyricwise than Dream on. But actually Dream On just really fit as a contrast to Alone On The Rope. I think he should be mostly past his phase of writing songs like Dream On, especially when he is capable of writing beautiful songs in the manner of Alone On The Rope or A Simple Game Of Genius. Well here's my counterpoint to this... I think Dream On is actually more of an important milestone for Noel's songwriting than Alone on the Rope. Since 2000, how many Noel-sung songs have been dark acoustic and moody and thoughtful? Almost too many. That's actually his comfort zone now. In the meantime, I was wondering if Noel would ever write a truly happy-go-lucky, FUN song again. I mean, Dream On is easily the most joyful piece of music Noel had recorded in an entire decade, and it's an important milestone for me because it showed me he is still in fact of capable of it. For a time I was wondering if getting off drugs completely ruined Noel's zest for life, because that's what his post-BHN, pre-NGHFB material seemed to suggest. Plus the tune is a real toe-tapper. As for ASGOG, I liked that 30 minute soundcheck version from years ago, but on the recorded version he didn't seem to know which direction he wanted to take it. Could have been better. I guess the point I'm trying to make, is there is room on the album for both Alone on The Rope and Dream On kind of songs. I don't want them to all sound the same, and variety is good.

I would like Dream On an awful lot more if it were a minute shorter.

Not a big fan of Dream On, but it's definitely good fun live I'm not really into that "I'd like more songs like..." thing, I don't care till they're quality tunes

My favourite solo songs from Noel are ASGOG,AOTR,I'd Pick You Everytime and Just Let It Come Down Over Me.Of course none of them are on the album which is proof that Noel is still an idiot when picking tracks for his albums. If he doesn't officially release AOTR and Just Let It Come Down Over Me in those exact versions he is a self sabotaging moron that should be banned from going near tracklistings.

God...why is everyone's favorite Noel songs the sappy emotional stuff? Noel can write songs like this in his sleep, and I think deep down part of himself is annoyed for writing them. Unless he's trying to impress his wife, he's not someone who really enjoys being emotional. That's the main reason a lot of those songs don't make albums and are usually b-sides...it's not what he wants to be known for by the public.

He's right, the Lake District is probably the best place in the world, would be a great video setting for a Noel tune (however unlikely it is).

Don't think this has anything to do with Noel. If this is for a music video, it's too early in the process for Noel to be doing that.
If it is Noel-related, there's an outside chance it could be for a surprise summer single like TDOYAM 3 years ago. Think it's highly unlikely though.

We need some concrete news about new Noel material. The prospect of waiting a year potentially is horrifying.

I've heard every Oasis tune, b-sides and unreleased included. I'd be surprised if someone could come up with something I haven't heard. I don't mind Probably All In My Mind. It's not a great song, not even close. It wouldn't make the top 100 Oasis tunes, but I don't find it particularly bad. Dream On irritates me.

Ever heard "Slow" or "The Magic Can't Be Right"? Never heard of the first. Wasn't the second a false title proposed for the first solo album? No the second one is a real song. Noel spoke of it both on radio spots and in print back in 2002 and 2003. It was expected to be on the DIV sessions and then the DBTT sessions. Currently in limbo. Supposed to sound like The Rolling Stones. But which era of the stones? Please let it be 1966.

Also, I think you misunderstood when I said unreleased. I'm talking unofficial releases. Not literally songs that hardly anyone or no one else has heard. Well, I loved the title when it was being fished around as a song for the solo debut. I hope it's released and turns out great.
