Really love Manfred Mann's version of Blinded By The Light! I had never heard it before I was 20. Was in a car with a friend when it came on and she argued that it was the original version. I still dont care for it. Guess I had heard the Springsteens version too many times. It's still Springsteens only #1 single in the US.

It's funny you say that , I had the same argument with a girl in my car way back when , she swore Jose feliciano wrote" light my fire ". When I finally convinced her its the doors swear to god I had to get my album to show her Jim didn't write it ...

Springsteen's original failed to chart. But you're right, it's all down to nostalgia. I've been hearing the Manfred Mann version since I was a small kid so I love it. Mannfred Mann's Earth Band is one band that I feel is criminally underrated. They created some absolute classic albums, for those who aren't very familiar with their music I highly recommend them! Especially "Angel Station" and "The Roaring Silence". Two of their best albums.

They also did Spirit in the Night and For You. I think For You was a big hit for them too but nowhere near as successful as Blinded by the Light

Threw me off for a second.

Manfred Mann's version butchers a great song. I'll never understand how people prefer watered-down crap like that to the real thing.
