The new Smash Bros is just incredible (also why I'm not on here that much atm). Massive roster and great gameplay depth, much prefer it to Smash 4 which i never really got into. Online is a shitshow but I didn't expect much from Nintendo there lol.
Currently maining Mega Man, Pokémon Trainer and Dr. Mario but there are so many more to explore and git gud with.

RDR2 is a fine game, however I am drawn to it like I have been to other Rockstar games.

Finished rdr2. Brilliant game. I went to my parents for Christmas where all my old stuff is still there so I played it then and I haven’t come close to completing it. I do however have enough playing time to genuinely believe it’s the greatest game ever.

Put Tiger back on the cover of the EA golf game, and release a new edition, for that matter, it's been several years since the last one, wtf...
Thanks.

Classes are finished so I'll definitely try it out again sometime this summer after job hours. The RPG elements in it like realistic needs and diseases seemed out of place since the game isn't an RPG by any means.

I'm thinking of buying Spiderman for PS4. It looks great and I need a game my nephew can play too because I'm fed up of him coming over and constantly playing Crash Bandicoot for the millionth time.

Only games I play nowadays are the Soulsborne series and similar games like that. I do try other games sometimes, but always end up being bored to death by cutscenes, quicktime events, press a to climb up the cliff, press a to jump over ledge, press a to activate stealth then behind enemy press a to activate the same kill animation and endless walking around doing nothing while something talks me through the story.
If I want to watch a film or tv series I will, 99% of the time they offer a much better quality story and I haven't got to move the character through it, I can just sit back with a beer and be entertained. If I play a video game I want fun, constantly engaging, interesting and challenging gameplay, not to be interrupted every few minutes for some time wasting bullshit. So many games now go the interactive story route and I really don't understand why that's become so popular.

I am a man of my word and I finally completed Red Dead Redemption 2. I didn't do all the side missions so primarily beelined the main quest.
As for the positives - the visuals are the best I've seen this generation outside of God of War and Uncharted 4. I have a 2015 model base PS4, and even with 6 year old hardware the amount of detail Rockstar was able to pack into this game, it makes complete sense it's over 100GB on your hard drive. From the lighting, weather, sound design, physics, character interaction, wildlife - the world is teeming with life (and at a point after the main story ends, the world gets even larger *without spoiling). The RPG elements in the game I was initally wrong about - it never is that tedious or repititive and maybe I got used to the immersion factor.
I won't spoil the story but to put it short the narrative is well-done. Not a masterpiece in my opinion due to some character alterations they made at the expense of another, and some happenstance here and there - but nevertheless is well-acted and brings us into the story of Red Dead 1 seamlessly. Also, hats off to Woody Jackson and the esteemed Daniel Lanois - the soundtrack is beautiful.
My negatives aside from minor parts of the main story that I can't spoil mainly comes from the gameplay mechanics. Rockstar has been using the same controls for their games for nearly 20 years, ever since GTA 3 and Vice City. The gunplay felt archaic and not even as tight as in the first Red Dead, and more of the on-rails tailored gunplay of GTA 5. The default controls they give you are extremely poor and made the game unplayable, you will have to fine tune them to settings that you find works. Aside from that, certain hardcoded gameplay choices like the constant tapping of (X) or (A) on Xbox for galloping your horse faster, rowing a boat, running on foot (this can be changed to the left analog stick), alongside engaging NPCs in conversation and a stiff cover system really can bring the game down and lead to clunky and unwanted moments. RDR2 unfortunately is one of the clunkiest and unfluid games I've played - developers like Naughty Dog basically outdid them twice with The Last of Us and Uncharted 4 which have similar gameplay mechanics yet better cover systems and gunplay.
To conclude Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of best game worlds I've ever played but held back by Rockstar's stubborness to update their controls to a more modern age of gaming. Hopefully they'll learn their lessons for GTA 6.

Me and a buddy of mine are going through The Division 2 right now. Forza Horizon 5 is pretty fun and Hitman 3 is a blast.
