Did anyone else go last night or has anyone else been on this Quadrophenia tour? 1st time I've seen the Who, glad I went to see them but I didn't really enjoy it as much as I thought I would, doesn't haelp that the evening news arena is crap!
They played the whole album of their songs from start to finish in the first section and I have to admit that part was just boring, even they seemed bored.
got much better later on, it helped that I moved to the very back of the arena where there were empty seats but I soon found that this is where all the mad and pissed up bastards were ( like a role reversal of a younger bands gigs) the men and women here were dancing on chairs and jumping about and it was fuckin brilliant haha.
Out of the Legend bands that I like I've now seen The Who and Roger Waters touring the Wall and in the flesh and I have to say Waters absoloutely pissed all over them for me. Still need to see Neil Young though.
Set list:
I Am the Sea The Real Me Quadrophenia Cut My Hair The Punk and the Godfather I'm One The Dirty Jobs Helpless Dancer Is It in My Head? I've Had Enough 5:15 Sea and Sand Drowned Bell Boy Doctor Jimmy The Rock Love, Reign O'er Me
Encore: Who Are You Behind Blue Eyes Pinball Wizard Baba O'Riley Won't Get Fooled Again Tea & Theatre

Nice one! Just downloaded the recording of this gig on dime, but haven't listened to it yet. I'm seeing them next week. Really looking forward to it as I missed them when they played over here last time years ago. I bought my ticket, but couldn't make it. Jesus, it'll be my first ever gig with a seat (and it's even numbered!) I don't need to stand in a queue for hours outside, so that's a good thing.

Pete Townsend and roger daltrey lit it up eh mimmihopps Good to know they still can rock with the best . But you know my feeling how they use the nam e THE WHO is ridiculous. Plant / page toured and played the big arenas and zep tunes without using the name , IMO you got no original member of the rhythm section ( which as the older fans know and i am sure some young ones was the BACKBONE of the band ).in fact PETE himself sId he was not a lead guitarist KEITH was a lead drummer , that's how important the rythem section was to THE WHO ......just don't seem right to me but oh well glad they still rock !

I understand what you mean, kalas, yet The Who are one of a few bands I "must" see once in my life time among with The Stones and Bowie. I don't like that Queen still carries their name with Paul Rogers (he's a great singer btw) and Joy Division became New Order was very right to me. I just want to see and listen to The Who, so gonna enjoy their gig.

I was at the Quadrophenia tour when it was in Glasgow 2 weeks ago. I thought it was phenomenal! OK I am Bias & this was the fifth time I have seen The Who in my life. The 1st time was 1998 in Wembley Arena (This was Quadrophenia also) I have been lucky enough to see the Ox (The greatest bass player of all time)on 3 seperate occasions. To be fair the fact that Quadrophenia was being played in it's entirety with big screens and a live band was enough for me to be there...but the fact that Townsend & Daltrey were there and still rocking was a pure bonus!! Daltrey has put this version of the live show together & he is still amazing vocally considering his age. The show itself was great IMO, really worth the money. I won't ruin it too much mimmihopps but the big screens really make the show. They show some 'Who' history from rare gigs & Mod footage throughout. It also gives a nice nod to both Keith Moon & John Entwhistle, rightly so as both of whom's imput into this album was massive. It is in my top 3 albums of all time & why I chose my username on here In regards to legends I have also seen The Stones, McCartney, AC/DC, Guns N' Roses, Paul Weller, U2 & Oasis. Long Live Rock!!

Well put man , the ox to me is the best pure base player I still give a nod to John Paul jones overall with his arrangements and keyboard style but as a base goes the ox was tops to me .. It's funny I seen the who for there " farewell tour back in 82 or 83 I forget the year caught them in NYC and we took a road trip to Toronto , massive shows , and Kenny jones was pretty tight I must say m but no moon . Sounds like you had a blast. Good to hear of the tribute , thanks for the review

I saw them last year and it was a brilliant show, but Quadrophenia is also my favorite album of theirs. Compared to the other "legends" I've seen, about as good as The Stones, Tom Petty and Neil Young (who were both brilliant), but Macca was by far the best. Not interested in seeing Waters as I'm not a fan of The Wall at all.
I thought Weller was pretty boring when I saw him last year, but I also wouldn't class him with the other artists I mentioned.

All I was doing (when I went and seen them at newcastle arena ) was stood there, mouth wide open, not blinking and in complete ore of these legends!
I loved every minute if it! Daltry was little rusty on the vocals to begin with but he still made it sound fantastic! For an older bloke Pete townshend can still pull some shapes! He was so energetic on stage! Played a few duff notes on guitar but still amazing the rest of the night!
Quadrophenia was the film that my dad gave me to watch and said to me "you'll watch this and think I wanna be him" well, after I watched it, about 6 months later I got my first vespa.... The rest is history!
It was brilliant to hear that album live even though they may not have been at their best! But it's THE WHO, the fucking Who.....!!!! Just wow ...!!!!!
