If B-sides consist of 3-4 songs then I would assume an EP would be like 5-7 songs.
If that is coming out this May.......then Fuck Ya!!!!
I have only one 'EP' that I have ever bought and it's 6 songs long, so hopefully that's the case.
4-5 months away maybe!

As someone pointed out in an earlier thread, the article called it an EP but Noel wasn't actually quoted as calling it that. And until then it had always been said to be a single.
The Verve did one back in the day and the songs were so long it was practically an album. But for as much as I know you only release an EP if you're an indie band or have some unique reason to put out one. And with their b sides/rarities as they are now it doesn't make a lot of sense. Why wouldn't they want another pop in the singles chart?
I'd like to be wrong about that but it must be a good song either way.

it will probably be a single of the boy with the blues but with about 3 b-sides making it longer than a single....who put the weight of the world on my shoulders may be one of them and maybe even another weve already heard so i wouldnt expect too much unheard material other than the boy with the blues.

All the early Oasis singles (up to the end of BHN) had 3 B-Sides then the people in charge of the singles charts decided they would reduce the length a single could be meaning we now get shorter (2 B-Side) singles and less value for money I think that anything that is not an album but is longer than the current maximum running lenghth that defines a 'single' is classed as an EP. As for weather Oasis will release a single or and EP in May... well your guess is as good as mine though I hope its an EP

oasis aren't releasing an EP, that's unrealistic...they'll relase boy with the blues with 2 b-sides and have it as a single
dont get your hopes up, i find it hard to believe that they'll even make b-sides for boy with the blues but i suppose you have to if youre gonna do a proper single

whatever had four tracks on it and that was in the singles charts. That's because the rule wasn't in place until at least before SOTSOG came out.

The Verve's EP was called "Verve EP" and was 30 minutes long, and was practically a studio album, because it was 5 songs, but yet again quite long.
If Oasis are delivering something more than 10-15 minutes, I hope that it will be somewhere like 20 minutes of music.

wot if they released two versions of the single... both with two completely different b-sides on, wud this be counted in the charts?

yes jonnyapp thats why for instance Radiohead does 2 singles with different B-sides they both count as a single so amongst your fans you instantly double your sales

its gonna probably be a one song single for the radio......i highly doubt even 2 b-sides, and anything more than that is never gonna happen

yeah the different b-sides idea will probably work aswell, i dont ever buy singles but ill be buying it without a doubt as its not on an album.
its got to be a certain number one here, especially with all the americans buying it as they cant buy singles on america

So The boy with the blues is recorded then? any news? I mean their holiday is going to end.. No news. I'd imagine the band are all together at the moment though, as they'd have to do some rehearsals for the next leg of the tour starting on Wednesday, just to make everything is still in order and hopefully add some new songs to the setlist.

If it is an EP, it's likely to be similar to "Whatever"; 3 B-sides, and just long enough to be not technically be a single. I wouldn't be surprised if "Who Put the Weight of the World on my Shoulders" was on it too. Noel has a history of putting out top notch songs as B-sides (Masterplan). Whatever it is, I'm just excited to hear it.
