If I Had A Tail and Smooth Sailing are both amazing track.
Wide swath of sounds and influences on Like Clockwork. Really love this album.

Best album of this year so far, I think it's their best album yet. I Appear Missing, My God is the Sun and Smooth Sailing are the highlights for me, the last couple if minutes of I Appear Missing are incredible.

My good friend described this album as Neil Young meets David Bowie. If that is the case I've gotta give it a spin. What do you guys think of that quote? Far fetched?

Anyways in reference to your post I didn't really get a Neil Young vibe. Bowie, yeah, but the tracks are diverse enough to pick up on different sounds, I guess. For example a friend of mine swears Smooth Sailing sounds like The Black Keys.

They are just a band I never could get into for whatever reason but people keep raving about this album and recommending it. Now could be the time to hit "play".

I tried to listen to Songs For The Deaf, but for some reason I just can't get into them. Some of their songs I really liked but the screaming is a bit much for my taste.

Well, there's typically not much screaming on Queens songs (none on Like Clockwork, for example). Nick did that stuff and he hasn't been in the fold for a while (although he guests on the new one). I love Like Clockwork. It's different but that's what I love about QOTSA. You don't know what's coming next but you can be pretty damn sure it's gonna be fucking awesome.

I've always felt the same but so many trusted friends told me to check out this album. I still haven't but I fucking need to soon.

Really enjoying Like Clockwork. My car's CD player hasn't spat it out in boredom yet.

I've been spinning this record for the last 4 days, trying to let it all sink in. Some really great shit on this album. I can definitely see the Bowie influence on tracks like "If I Had A Tail" and "Smooth Sailing". The drumming of this album reminded me of In Utero, then I realized Dave Grohl is on drums for half the album. Sweet! The album's final track, "Like Clockwork", is an unbelievably great song. Reminds me of a modern version of Neil Young's "On The Beach". My highlights are: - I Sat By The Ocean - The Vampyre of Time and Memory - If I Had A Tail - Like Clockwork

Never noticed the In Utero drumming, but now that you mention it... Only bad thing about the album is that it only has 10 songs...They should have just kept going and going...

Better late than never I suppose . Another track or two would have been nice but it is still a beast of an album to listen to. Glad I jumped in on this.
