Don't know if it's been mentioned here already, or how many Oasis fans there are who also love Tori Amos, but has anyone heard the cover Tori did of 'Don't Look Back In Anger' when she performed at the Manchester Apollo earlier this year? Awesome! I'm a huge fan of both & was delighted when I saw that Tori had chosen to cover this song. She's released a series of 'official bootlegs' which includes the cover, but I don't know how to upload songs. To hear a preview, go to: www.toriamosbootlegs.com/scroll down the left-hand-side until you get to the Manchester Apollo CD cover (the one with the orange lizard), click on it, then scroll down the bottom to hear a sample. She tells a story about how she met Morrissey years ago & he was rude to her, and in the song she changes the words to "Don't look back in anger, Morrissey..." What do you lot think?

why is the term "muppet" a derogatory one in england/ireland? i mean, muppets are great! i especially like the swedish chef muppet and the two old hecklers, not to mention the one called "beaker" who just blows things up and then magically moves to another room

though i guess if the only muppets i knew were like horrible turkey muppets who sing sweet caroline horribly then i'd use it as a slur too

C'mon,
Tori's just keeping the dream alive. I think it's great when people cover their contemporaries because it shows that the original band has real value. And Tori Amos is a respected musician.
I think also when it's a live cover it's less of a big deal - it's just paying tribute to the original artist. If she took it into the studio it would be a different matter.
Covers shit me when they're just a rehash of an old song which was a hit in its time - like when some unknown covers a song in the studio and releases it as a single to make money off it. I think that proper musicians who make a decent musical contribution can get away with doing covers because it's obvious that they're capable of making their own music.

I like and respect Tori Amos as well. When she does a cover she just doesn't give it the piano-songwriter treatment, she transforms it. Cheers for the info!

good charlotte did a version of acqueisce - which is well - like good charlotte! - but at the end they proclaim that oasis are better than the beatles!! it sounds like a bit of brown nosing to me!!
