Book three (1980) of David Peace's 'Red Riding' Quartet. They are uncomfortable to read but Yorkshire Noir is something that actually works! Coincidence, but just reading Peace's latest novel, Red or Dead about Liverpool manager Bill Shankly. Some reviewers describing it as his 'masterpiece'. You don't need to be a Liverpool fan to enjoy this, as this isn't about Liverpool FC. It's about how great a man Shankly was, and a first for David Peace as it is his first non-bleak novel. It oozes goodness.

I'm almost halfway through my second read of Getting High: The Adventures of Oasis, after reading it for the first time in 2010.
Paolo Hewitt can't write if his life depended on it, but it's a great read cos the stories are entertaining, and the Oasis segments are hilarious.
Every time I have a momentary thought that Oasis have lost their value to me, I see/hear/read something that quickly rekindles that passion and pride for the best band in the world.

Last book I read was Terry Francona's book. An excellent read for any Red Sox fan. Good baseball stories in general though.

i'm reading "Hanson's Marathon Method" because you guessed it....I'm training to run one! The Hanson brothers are some of the best coaches in the US, and they happen to be from my hometown, they even coached us in jr high and high school track. And we're blessed to have some of the best running shops thanks to them. So for anyone who might be thinking about taking up running, even if it's not a marathon, it's helpful just to learn about the science of the sport.... Or you can always just do this...

thanks mate!! if i can get these shin splints under control, I'll be back on the road soon! hopefully can start again Monday! Hope all goes well with that. When is the race? at this rate i should be able to do a half marathon around december/january depending on how my legs hold up, so the full marathon won't be until about april or may next year. the only races i've scheduled for sure right now is the Marine Corps Marathon 10k, at the end of October and an 11 miler at Quantico, VA in March. I like to do races that benefit Wounded Warriors or the USMC. As long as you complete the 11 mile in Quantico, you get to enroll in the Marine Corps Marathon that year (again in Oct), so that's the one I'd really like to do, and I don't know if I can do 2 marathons in a year...decisions, decisions...

'Oasis: The Truth' by a certain Tony Mccarroll. A great read for any Oasis fan even if it is unbelievably biased. You'd think Oasis fell apart after he left the way he goes on about it. Not once does he mention that Oasis became the biggest band in the world (albeit briefly) without him!

Finished Morrissey's autobiography today.
Really enjoyed most of it but it did drag on at some points.
No chance of a Smiths reunion though after reading it. Will be interesting to read Marr's book should it get the go ahead.

Children of Men.
Far different from the movie. I almost feel as if the book is spoiled by the movie because the movie is so well made.

I'm an unashamed owner of many Viz comic annuals that I've just been reading through. Viz is the funniest thing ever - it's so peurile and immature (all done with irony), but, satirically, it really does tell you all you need to know about Britain more than any newspaper, politician or TV show!
The 'Letterbocks' and Viz Top Tips pages are hilarious, and if you can't laugh at characters like Roger Mellie, Terry Fuckwitt, Major Misunderstanding, etc, then you have no sense of humour!
