After countless bloody threads about how awful Liam's been sounding over the past few years, at last, it can be said definitively that he is still a fantastic vocalist, when he hasn't been bawling his lungs out for months.
His voice has clearly changed, but it sounds like finally they're writing songs that suit him and his sound.
It is with great pleasure I say - welcome back, Liam.

For how long though?! He does far too many gigs IMO without restin' his voice properly. Be same as always, voice soundin' great at start of tour then gradually decline.

I imagine he would have sounded this good acoustically last time round as well they just didn't do any acoustic performances and when he sings at gigs he insists on trying to rip his tonsils out.

As said he sounds brilliant at the start of a tour but a few months in it's terrible.

Even if it does get worse over the course of the tour we can come back to these videos in years to come and still enjoy them as much as videos from 94-97

Well hopefully get some excellent performances for the archives And as we know 9 times out of 10 At the gig he sounds amazing (even if you watch it back he doesn't) |

He does always sounds better at the start of tours but that Start Anew vocal is arguably a level above anything he's done since 2000.

Hopefully it lasts. Liam sounded great at the start of DGSS promotion too. That Letterman webcast was one of his best vocals in a long long time. I was impressed. I recommend Beady Eye don't play back to back nights and don't attempt too many legs of the tour. The December 2011 USA tour was dreadful.

I think people are getting a bit carried away here. Now I don't know if it is just me but there is DEFINATELY some vocal effects used on his voice for these 2 songs which blatantly makes it sound beter than it actually is, same goes for the KEXP session in 2011. You can make most singers sound better than they are in a studio setting like that. Come the tour, it will be business as usual, a few excellent performances, many average and a few terrible ones.

Watch the Dreaming Of Some Space video reversed on YouTube, which is a recording of them playing it in the hotel room before the gig. He sounds even better there. No effects that time. |
