It's simple: if you like the acoustic version, you'll love the album version. If you don't like the acoustic version, you CAN still like the album version. Because on the album, the repeats of the 'whole world in our hands, come on take a chance, start a new'-parts actually have a role in building up to the drum filled part, whereas acoustic it does indeed sound more repetitive. The 'yeah yeah yeah, aw aw aw' part on the album, filled with drums and reverb, actually sound epic, and then Andy's guitar part kicks in on the background, and the song ends up greatly.

I guess that is Beady Eye's 'thing' then. Most artists build to an immense chorus. Beady Eye builds to an immense and often brilliant outro of instrumentation, clashing guitars, blazing horns, reverb, sound effects, but usually fail to deliver the standard epic chorus.

You can nitpick the ratings, giving WOMR an 8 instead of a 9 doesn't change anything. The point is, DGSS era began with stronger batch of songs than what we have heard from BE so far. The rest of the material will really have to be above average/good to cleanse the bad taste (some of us) have left from that period. People have accused Beady Eye of being repetitive, with some cause but they have never been as repetitive as you. FACT.

Yes, I would easily take BTL, FLW, WOMR and SOTS over FOTF, SBOTA, DOSS and SA (granted the album version could end up a lot better than what we've heard so far).
FLW = FOTF BTL = SBOTA SOTS >>>>> DOSS WOMR >>> SA

Most bands have one or two good songs on any given album and sell based on only their singles, the rest is throwaway. Beady Eye, like Oasis, manage to make a solid album with only a few throwaway tracks. That is a feat that should be recognized more often.

Well, I was expecting more. It is too repetitive and the only thing that saves it to me is the little guitar fills. I was expecting a better melody but I think the Album version will be better with the production. After reading the album review I was expecting more. They miss Noel's songs for sure. And what a shocker, it sounds like a damn Beatles tune. They need to move past that shit.
So far out of the 3 songs I have heard I prefer DGSS. Better melodies so far from DGSS. And that is what makes a good song in my opinion. Not some artsy fartsy radiohead type of shit.

Only heard a live acoustic of it. DOSS is not much of a bside, clever in the way it can be reversed. Just a teaser for Start Anew though, surely they knew the fans would reverse it?? Csn probably only compare the first 4 that were listed. My opinion: FOTF > FLW > SBOTA >BTL I think that means BE is edging it for me

I think besides SBOTA, Flick of the Finger and Start Anew have better melodies than most of the tunes on DGSS. The difference is they don't have the standard structure like DGSS songs do.

Really? SBOTA melody is utter shit. Flick of the finger's best melody is the damn horn section and Start Anew is just a verse that repeats over and over. FLW, Millionaire, For Anyone, The Roller, TBGO, Hell even Wigwam has a better melody then the 3 songs we have heard from BE. That is just my opinion though.
I really do think the Album version of Start Anew will sound really really good.

If you think that is a good melody then I feel sorry for you. The songs go fucking nowhere and are repetitive. Another fanboy I see. So far, I like DGSS more. Sorry you love Kermit so much.

6/10 overall for its repetition and failure to go anywhere. 8/10 for melody which is quite catchy and beautiful. In other words, another great idea that wasn't developed enough. This is a song that needs Noels brilliance in songwriting to polish it up. You sad sad man!! Noel's brilliance, hahahahaha! You Noel idiots make me laugh!
