I'll wait till I hear the album version before giving my "real" verdict, but I really liked this acoustic performance. Liam's vocals are great. It is repetitive in the second half, though, and if the song was about 30 to 60 seconds shorter, it'd be perfect for me. But I like the stripped-down feel of the song, the melancholy, and the hopefulness of it. Off-topic, SBOTA surprised me. I wasn't a huge fan of the song but was willing to give it a chance, and Liam's performance really sold it.

If it's a Liam song, it's his best yet. Nothing will ever trump Boy With The Blues. But it's a great song alright.

Decent song, not blown away by it. I think we will have better songs on the album.
Liam sounds amazing.

Nice tune. Decent lyrics. Most importantly, Liam is sounding ON IT. Good times.

I think its great that Liam said "we are gonna do more of this" (acoustic sessions) during the interview. He absolutely nailed it, I guess its true when he said thats how my voice really sounds, second bite of the apple and start anew could of been straight off the album. Quality songs and quality performance.

No matter what we think of these songs (i think start anew is best BE song yet), we'll be coming back to these performances for years to come

Lovely melody and great to hear Liam doing a melodic acoustic vocal again. Personally don't care who wrote the song think its fantastic and can't wait to hear Sitek's production on the album version.
FOTF was instant for me and is still the bollocks, SBOTA thought it was pretty poor when I first heard but damn its a catchy number and will be shit hot live at the ABC in June.
I honestly think they've grown as a band and for me Sitek's seems to getting the best out of the lads.
Can't wait for the album think it'll be mega.
Peace out

Kind of get the same feeling hearing this tune as I first had with 'nobody loves you when your down and out' by Lennon, very personal, very melancholic and without the song actually going anywhere it put me in a very thoughtful and reflective mood, good tune

Liam sounds brilliant but the song has only 20 seconds of melody and then it just repeats. That 20 seconds is great but why cant they write different parts of songs instead of just saying ahh ahhh ahhh, yeah yeah yeah. Reminds me of TMS in the way it just repeats itself. The production might save it.
Id say Liam wrote it, he has by far the best head for melody out of the three

Start Anew doesn't really grab me.....maybe that'll change, doubt it.
the acoustic version of Second Bite of the Apple was great, though.
God bless.

Been wondering why I've been finding the performance so strange. Finally clicked - first time I've ever seen Liam singing without craning his neck upwards to a mic. Ever.

Yeh he definitely looks more comfortable. Even when he sang songbird live accoustically, he'd be leaning and craning his neck - and he'd still be sat down, kinda looking uncomfortable.

Maybe liam has ditched his iconic pose (more comfortable singing?, protects his voice?), I guess we'll find out when jools holland roles around and he's stood up. I remember Liam saying he now knows why its so important to protect his voice maybe he was advised to improve his posture?

Repetitive and doesn't go anywhere - your prototypical Beady Eye song innit...6/10 for the redeeming melody and Liam's vocals.
FOTF: 7/10 SBOTA: 4/10 DOSS: 3/10
To compare, DGSS definitely started out a lot better: BTL: 4/10 SOTS: 8.5/10 FLW: 7.5/10 WOMR: 9/10
If the first 4 songs we've heard are some of the best BDI has to offer for BE (as was the case for DGSS), then they're truly fucked.

So your comparing the first 4 songs we've heard from BE (when there's 17 to choose from) VS the whole DGSS era? How does that make sense as a comparison.. The first 3 songs we heard from DGSS weren't the best so why would they be on BE?
