I think one of the disappointing aspects of Beady Eye's output is how bland and safe the musicianship is. They have Gem and Andy, both of whom are great guitarists/bassists, yet very few Beady Eye songs have a guitar solo or bass line worth talking about. In general, once you've heard the first 90 seconds of a Beady Eye song, there are no more surprises left. That said, most of Noel's album was pretty safe, too—he just has better melodies.

Honestly, to me, DGSS didn't sound that much different from anything Oasis made post 2000, so I really don't understand what musicianship you're looking for. Beady Eye is Oasis minus Noel, the man who gave us great songs and melodies. That's just the truth, and I'm fine with that. I didn't expect Beady Eye to come out of the gate with an amazing album. At this point in my life, there's really no need to analyze why a band of 40 year olds who came from one of the greatest bands of all time are not living up to their former band. Who really does? There are some exceptions, but the glory days of amazing songs from both Gallagher brothers have passed, and I think we should just sit back and listen to the music and decide if we like it or not, and if we don't, we should just not listen to it. We are over analyzing this situation way too much.

Simple instrumentation can be OK, but when its combined with crap lyrics and a melody worthy of a nursery rhyme you have a problem.

I'm not expecting Beady Eye to make music as majestic as Oasis in their prime; that is an unfair expectation. However, would it kill the lads to write a guitar solo?

I think we may have overrated the musicianship of Gem and Andy a little bit in oasis. If you think about it, neither of them provided any memorable solo/bass line in 10 years and 3 studio albums with Oasis...So it shouldnt come as a shock that they're sounding very generic and vanilla now. They are who they are.

Andy's guitar work in the live shows has been stellar for mine. Especially Three Ring Circus.

It's no coincidence that Oasis nosedived when these other members started writing album tracks for the band. It is therefore no coincidence that Beady Eye are totally irrelevant to the music world of today either.
FACT.

The only thing in my opinion worth revisiting is Creep...One good song in how many years and songs they have released? I like every Oasis song to some degree. And Oasis is the only band that I completely enjoy in such regard.

I am kind of surprised that there are more interesting guitar work considering Andy and Gem are both good guitarist. They seem so focused on ensuring Liam is put in the best light possible for sure...don't know that the other 2 shine really.
Whatever though. Not a big deal

Andy and Gem are both pretty good guitarists and Chris is an AMAZING drummer, that's enough musicianship for me.

they are great musicians, except for Liam.. but anyways.. the problem of Beady Eye are the songs. They are not that good. What's with the name of the band anyways? Sounds very shitty to me..

this is not a fan forum. it's more of a geek forum. the best fans are NOT here. they're away from a computer enjoying life. am I part of here? am I part of there? let's not figure out because it doesn't really matter.
