I love Beady Eye and am extremely excited for the record. Also, I love the Stones and I dig Satanic Majesties, I think it's a fun little romp...but the Stones have abandoned it and have never ventured down the cosmic plane since. Some consider it a complete wash up, a catastrophic failure. Let's say BE is viewed the same. Doesn't crack the charts or move many copies, is also viewed critically as a nice roll of toilet paper in which to wipe with.
We know what Liam said he would do...retire from music, quit. Head off into the sunset on his purebred camel. A few questions, though...
- Would you still support Beady Eye, if they remained intact, even after releasing a "bunk" second record?
- Would you bother with checking out a third record in the future?
- If Liam did in fact quit, what do you think Gem and Andy would do? Would you support their future projects?
- Let's say Beady Eye does split, but Liam continues as a solo artist. Do you think he could carry a solo record on his own, ala Noel?
- How do you think a solo, completely Liam Gallagher written record would fare?
- If none of the above solo work transpires but still if the record fails, do you think it would lead to an Oasis reunion?
- How do you like your coffee?
That is all. I'm hoping and suspecting the record will kick some ass though, and end up being a gem. Just a gut feeling...

i would buy everything beady eye will release. i love liams voice, even on songs, that are not that great like "i can see a liar", "probably all in the mind" etc. i would support them, cause they tried a different route, everybody can fail and i don't care if they fail for everyone, because music business right now is shit. don't care if they are in the charts or not. i would listen to flick of the finger all the time, if the rest is not good enough, cause i love flick of the finger! if liam quits, i would love to join beady eye. liam is a band musician not a solo artist. please no Oasis reunion! i'm more a tea guy

Their Satanic Majesties Request is a truly underrated record. Shame it signalled the end of The Stones stepping outside of their Blues-Rock comfort zone.
They did so many interesting things before and up to that record. They did some terrific stuff after it, for sure, but they lost their edge of unpredictability. Can you imagine the Stones in 1973 releasing a Lady Jane or a Paint It Black?
No matter the reception, I think Beady Eye should make the music they want to make. I think they should be strong and shouldn't pander to the critics.

BDI do pander to the critics with hiring an up and coming producer and talking about distancing themselves from DGSS.......
it's very easy for anyone who's in the situation of not being successful to say, 'it's not about the money or selling records' or whatever the case may be ....Oasis/Liam always wanted and claimed to the be the best band in the world and BDI's lack of success has to be driving Liam nuts......not to mention his brother's album is more commercially and critically successful.....competition is healthy, hopefully BDI stepped up and made some great fucking music this time around.....
God bless.

We know what Liam said he would do...retire from music, quit. Head off into the sunset on his purebred camel. Liam said that as a joke.

I'd probably lose a great deal of interest in Beady Eye if the new album is the same quality as DGSS or worst and not support them any more if that means buying singles off the album etc. I'd check out the third album just because I'll always be interested in music Liam's involved with. If Liam quit I guess Gem would join another band and Andy would too, not sure if I'd support their future projects. If BDI split and Liam continued as a solo artist and really took his time with an album I think it would have a good chance of being good. I think Oasis will reform in the next three or four years if the new record fails. Answered all your questions

I don't think Liam has the level of musicianship to write a whole record of his own. He could think up some melodies but would need someone else with him. I'm still hoping they do this record, tour a bit then reunite with Noel for 2015. Then they can release a new album full of Liam singing Noel's songs again, with Dave Sitek getting the best out of both of them.

I would always give anything with Liam's voice a listen. He has shown he can write a good song with enough time. Gem could always join Noel's project of the time, as they are still friends. Not a big fan of Tim Smith's guitar work....

If this album were bad I'd probably still pay attention for as long as I was on this board. Probably wouldn't buy another album without listening to it first. I doubt it will really be that bad though. I think Andy would DJ. Maybe do a small reunion with Ride I think Liam would find another group or guest on albums. Don't think he could really be a self sufficient solo artist. If he couldn't make BDI work I don't think a Liam written album would stand a chance. Not without him relinquishing a lot of power to other people in his career. I think Gem would become a session musician. Maybe with Noel, maybe Weller. He seems to be a generally well liked guy and a talented guitarist. He'd continue on in music. I think if BDI totally flopped out of existence it wouldn't increase the chance of an Oasis reunion. I think Noel wouldn't let Liam forget that he couldn't make it on it's own and that Noel could and Liam wouldn't be able to swallow that. I think the chances are best of an Oasis reunion if both brothers are at least moderate successes or both flop. I think they'd need to be able to meet on even footing. I drink tea. Lots of sugar

Beady Eye would be extremely lucky to make a record as good as Satanic Majesties Request. Tall order.

i really like "their satanic majesties request", last big effort of a genius called Brian Jones. Altough the stones had their biggest success after it, i think it was pretty boring after 4 great albums, that they never wanted to try something else, than their bluesrock, rock n roll formula. can't even listen to the albums they made in the 80s. There is nothing worse than Dirty Work

Majesties is definitely a unique Stones release and that makes it fascinating. I wish they attempted another psychadelic album. Oh well. Few could argue with the results after 1967. Beggars Banquet, Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers, Exile On Main Street. This band was on fire and finally making "albums".
