Headshrinker (maybe my favourite Liam vocal) Half The World Away It's Good To Be Free Acquiesce Listen Up Underneath The Sky The Masterplan Fade Away (I love the song, but the production of this version is absolutely awful) Stay Young Rockin' Chair I Am The Walrus Talk Tonight Going Nowhere The Swamp Song
I don't really get the inclusion of I Am The Walrus and The Swamp Song, both really pointless.

Fade Away (I love the song, but the production of this version is absolutely awful) If only that bunch of rocnknrollish punky songs had the production and feel of WTSMG... Some songs are excellent but so colorless, just a generic guitar distortion, no layers. I even think the Sex Pistols had more textures 20 years before them.

After all, these are the songs we all have fallen for, ain't it?. Still, admit it would be awesome that the production quality matches the level of that songwriting. Noel Gallagher works with bundle lead guitar and arrangements everywhere, it would be mega to have a re-issue of it. Some songs deserved a better outfit. Of course that's not going to happen. I wouldn't change supersonic. But slide away deserves more color. In this sense, WTSMG is excellent. So organic. Underneath the sky sounds mega as well.

Well, in some songs that applies, indeed. My holy grial is to get I Hope I Think I Know demo sung by Noel. The rough demo mix available at youtube has an awful quality, but the strenght in that vocals is awesome. Hindu times demo is awesome. Songbird demo is superb too. Dunno dude, so relative. We should have 5 versions of each Oasis song. Haha.

Many of you have going nowhere on place 12 or 13. Can't understand that. I really love this song! You'll enjoy this then: 1. Acquiesce - Nothing else comes close. 2. Talk Tonight - Can you believe this was a B-side? Don't think even Noel can. 3. Going Nowhere - The great lost NG song. This is criminally overlooked. 4. Listen Up - Great early B-side, awesome Liam vocals. Sounds better here with a couple of bars taken out of the guitar solo (as opposed to B-side version) 5. Rockin' Chair - Nice tune and a bit different at the time. Not quite as good as people say it is though. 6. Half The World Away - Melancholia never sounded better. 7. Underneath The Sky - Good song but sadly chorus doesn't live up to the verses. 8. Fade Away - Great early rocker, even if it does rip off Wham. 9. The Masterplan - Syrupy and overblown. Nowhere near as good as everyone seems to think it is. In my very humble opinion. 10. (It's Good To Be) Free - Decent, if a bit forgettable. 11. Stay Young - Too poppy and throwaway to be a classic but a decent tune and one of the best from the Be Here Now era. 12. Headshrinker - Oasis do punk. But not that well. 13. I Am The Walrus - Ok live, not that thrilling on record. 14. Swamp Song - And the point was?

1. Acquiesce-How can this not be #1? I remember playing this song over and over and over again when I first got my hands on the SMS import single, and feeling like I could jump 50 story buildings. 2. Fade Away-A beautiful melody, melancholy lyrics and raging energy. In other words, everything that is great about early Oasis. 3. Talk Tonight-The second Oasis song I learned on the guitar after Wonderwall, which is apt because it is actually easier to play than Wonderwall, which is difficult to manage. 4. Listen Up-I initially thought this sounded too much like Supersonic at the start, but now could care less. Basically, the entire song is made by that brilliant series of chords Noel put together in the pre-chorus ("it wouldn't be so bad if I had more time"). Great Liam vocal. 5. Rockin Chair-Possibly my favorite Liam vocal, which makes sense because Liam sounds so awesome on WTSMG andthis is a WTSMG bside. 6. Stay Young-Another Oasis song that should not work. Familar guitar opening, familar Noel guitar doodling, familar drum entry, it sounds a bit like microwaved leftovers from WTSMG. But it has a great optimism in the lyrics and the drumbeat that just overwhelms any resistence. 7. Masterplan-I don't love this as much as most. I think the lyrics are completely inpenetrable and pretentious at the same time. But this is an incredible melody. 8. Headshrinker-raw power and menace. Sad to think that Oasis could do these in their sleep in 94-95, but couldn't (or wouldn't) come up with anything comparable afterwords except TSOTL (almost 15 years later!) and maybe My Big Mouth. 9. Half The World Away-Tells you everything you need to know about the Masterplan's greatness as an album that a song this good is #9. 10. Its Good To Be Free-My enjoyment of this song peaked about 3-4 years ago. Didn't feel that strongly about it until Noel played his great version of it on the Stop The Clocks tour. And now that he's played it to death live, I could go a few years without hearing it again. 11. Going Nowhere-I like the longing of this song and the production. 12. Underneath The Sky-A good song, but unlike the top 10 on this album, you can see why it was a B-side. 13. I Am The Walrus-Never a fan of this cover, which is almost sacreligious. Give me Cum on Feel The Noize any day of the week-COFTN represented the spirit of Oasis way better than IATW. 14. Swamp Song-I would be just as happy if this song didn't exist.

Half the World Away - Probably my favourite oasis song to play on guitar The Masterplan - Fucking epic song, love the chorus Listen Up - Cant stop listening to this song Fade Away - I like the rock of this song (if that makes sense) Underneath the Sky - Easily the most underrated song of theirs Acquiesce - Simplicity executed perfectly Talk Tonight - Another song I love to play on guitar Its Good To Be Free - I love the album version and noels version Stay Young - I like the song, it's really catchy but some of the lyrics are a bit shit Rockin Chair - This was one of the last oasis songs I got into but I fucking love it, I wish I could have ranked it higher Headshrinker - I like the song but it doesn't do that much for me Going Nowhere - O.K. Song but it bores me alot Swamp Song - Makes my ears bleed
I love all these songs except the swamp song
PS. I didnt include I am the Walrus because its not their song

1. Acquiesce (The lost classic, easily deserved a place on (What's The Story) Morning Glory? 2. The Masterplan (Possibly the best B Side, almost criminal that Noel did not listen to reason and put this on the album. It was really underplayed up until the Dig Out Your Soul tour where it was a standout song. I loved the choir singing on this song during the Electric Proms gig) 3. Listen Up (Brilliant song, if only this has been recorded earlier so that it could have gone on Definitely Maybe or held back for the Morning Glory album. Sounded great on the Stop The Clocks Tour) 4. Fade Away (I prefer Slide Away on Definitely Maybe so I think that Noel made the right choice between the two but still should have been on that album in preference to Up In The Sky or Digsy's Dinner) 5. Half The World Away (The perfect song to express Noel's feelings at that time. A really welcome addition to the Dig Out Your Soul tour setlist) 6. Rockin' Chair (So catchy, just wish there was a pro recorded live version. Maybe the full Teenage Cancer Trust gig from 2010 will emerge at some point so there is still hope) 7. Stay Young (Classic song, Noel really must have taken too much Cocaine to prefer Magic Pie over this) 8. Talk Tonight (Really personal, glad Liam pissed Noel off if this was the result. Better than a B Side but not strong enough to be on the Morning Glory album) 9. (It's Good) To Be Free (Great song both the B Side and the live semi-acoustic versions but slightly forgettable. A perfect opener to the Stop The Clocks and High Flying Birds tours. Could have been higher if not for the strength of the competition above.) 10. Underneath The Sky (Again really underrated but a bit forgettable though, can see why it was a B Side. I loved the Acoustic version he did live for radio) 11. Headshrinker (Good song but never really cared for it, just another B Side for me) 12. The Swamp Song (Worked well as an opener on the Morning Glory tour, could have been on the album instead of the excerpts but would not have added anything) 13. I Am The Walrus (Only so low because it is not an Oasis song. Perfectly suits Liam's voice) 14. Going Nowhere (Recorded because of the cry for a simpler song during the excesses of the Be Here Now Era. Just a B Side though nothing more. I would have preferred Spaceman or Cloudburst to have been on The Masterplan album over this.
Not really an album but proves how strong Noel's songwriting was at this time as these songs sound awesome together. These B Sides were better than many bands singles. A real shame that some were only B Sides. The first 6 would have improved either Definitely Maybe or What's The Story (Morning Glory)?
