I counted them. What the f*ck were they thinking using this line, which has a piss easy non-interesting melody that hardly last 4 seconds, for bloody 14x times. Unbelievable. And also: use it as not only an album track, but as a first single. Again: unbelievable. How can they not hear this?
Anyone who says this song is better than most of DGSS is out of his mind. I listened back DGSS in the car today, and there is NO tune on it which is worse than this. Even the chorus of mediocre Wind Up Dream is better than this, melody and hookwise. I'm never a big critic, and i tend to like eveything Liam sings, but my god, learn to write a song or buy/lend/cover some from other songwriters, so we get recordings like Sons Of The Stage.
And altough Flick of The Finger is slighty better because of the vibe of it all, this also is one slightly average singing melody repeating over and over. Shockingly amateuristic songwriting.

Yeah, but this song is just an example. How many times repeat 'slide away'? You can´t name a shit song because it has one phrase repeatedly over and over

Name me one classic song that has the same line over and over again for at least 10x times, besides There She Goes...
Of course this is an argument, especially when the line is so short and has a absolutely below average melody.

Slide is away is completely different, because it's only two wrods in a much longer melody with hooks and changes.
Imagine them singing Slide Away... Slide Away.... Slide Away... Slide Away.... Slide Away... etc. That would be a comparison. But not like it is in the song Slide Away..

I must admit that as much as I admire their efforts and attempts at being creative etc this track leaves me feeling hollow/unfulfilled/wanting more. Fotf is miles better. There is so much scope to elaborate on a solid base yet it feels so very single paced. Repeating any line 14 times is maddening for my preference, doing it with a bog standard line does warrant questioning for me. Bands make music for them first BUT they have to consider the market they rely on for existence at some point.

Yeah but Hey Jude repeats 'Na' a couple of time though. I think All Around The World may have said 'Na' a few times too. Those bastards!

There are many song in Oasis with one phrase repeatedly over and over. So, for me, it´s not an argument. So that´s your point of view. And i don´t agree wiht that. And I don´t agree with the arguments that some people use here. If you don´t like it, ok. I like it a lot and I think that this song has a good melody and it´s a good song ( obviously not perfect a not near of a classic ). So, anybody has the only truth

"We're Gettin' Better Man" (x 35?) Wouldn't call that a classic, and that line is repeated too many times actually

"We're Gettin' Better Man" (x 35?) Wouldn't call that a classic, and that line is repeated too many times actually I love that song you play that up loud in your car on a sunny day with the windows open and boom. Although that applies to most of Be Here Now to be fair But I was pointing out the fact that its repeated 35 times (which is ridiculous I agree) on a not particularly popular track and no one seems to care.

It's ironic, but not unexpected, that forum fuckwit theyknowwhatimean went crazy about Noel repeating "shout it out for me!" on Dream On has remained curiously silent this time around.

I thought the lyric were: "The world is up if you're tough enough". I guess I gotta turn my record machine up.

I agree with the original poster. I wouldn't mind the same line over and over if the melody was good. The melody just makes it that much worse. I also agree that anything on DGSS is better than this shitty song.
This album will flop and didn't Liam say if it flops he is going to quit? I hope so. Gem can get back with Noel.

The word is LOVE, and you have to be tough enough for LOVE.
Come on, show what you LOVE now!
