Hype for HC - 'As good as Definitely Maybe;' hype for DBTT - 'As good as Definitely Maybe;' - hype for DOYS - 'the album we should have made after Morning Glory;' hype for DGSS - 'bigger than Oasis.'
The band have been decidedly reserved about this one. Good sign?

I think it is a good sign. It's evident they're very optimistic about this album, but seems like they've learned their lesson and have kept silent for the most part.

"I'm not saying it's better than 'Be Here Now' or it's going to be this or that - I love 'Be Here Now', I won't have a bad word said about it but when you're selling 20 million records, you've got people there going, 'Oh let's just chuck out that formula again'. So I'm a bit disappointed we didn't ever do it. But this fucking record: we've booted the door off the hinges and steamed right in there, into this other world." I take it you didn't read past the first couple of sentences.

I take it you didn't read past the first couple of sentences. Actually, I did. He's saying that Be Here Now was a good album but was more conservative then the one he would have liked to make if there wasn't so much pressure at the time. He's certainly at least implying that Be is as good or better than Be Here Now.

Is he implying that? The first sentence would suggest not.

He's saying there was plenty of pressure to create something as successful as MG so they didn't try something different when maybe they should have.

I'm enjoying reading the positive reviews so far, a lot of people seem to be surprised by the album.
