Liam specifically said that they'd only play songs he sung himself in Oasis. Though if Beady Eye did play DLBIA it would be a huge flop because it would basically be like a cover band performing it.

Yea, Noel plays that song as perfectly as one can play it and he knows how to get everything out of it on a given night. From how long to feel out the pause at the end of the song to the exact moments and tones each section of the song should create. Also, Liam could probably never hit those notes. |

Owen Morris: "I was never convinced Noel should be singing it [...] I didn't think he sounded as good as Liam. Certainly not back then. Liam was such a great singer. However, Noel sang that song, I comped it, and I also tuned it to ensure we had the vocal you hear on the record. Certainly, it worked, and people seemed to like it, but I've still always thought that Liam should've sung it." (p 52). Also Nick Brine (then in-house studio engineer at Rockfield) recalls that there was in fact a version with Liam singing and that it was a very big talking point as to who should sing it (the interview is on my site). It's not mentioned in the SOS article though. The only other reference I've found to Liam singing it was a quote from Noel where he recalls that when he gave Liam the lyrics he sang "don't back in anger, not today", confirming to Noel his dyslexia. Don't have the full quote and ref to hand but it is on the forum somewhere! |
