He seems bitter... Apparently Liam dissed him in an interview? Anyone know what he said about the Lillywhite sessions? ---- As for Killers battle born.... I LOVE the killers but that album is awful; it's production is also atrocious. There's the song "Be still" which is great.... But only it's special edition acoustic version... The full on Lillywhite version is awful compared to the striped version. "The last record, the producer weren’t right, he bailed, Gem ended up mixing it and it turned out great for what it was. But we needed a great producer.” It's not extremely professional to tweet what he did. But he was professional for 2 years and bigged up BDI every chance he got. Nothing negative about them or DGSS. And that didn't stop them from insulting him professionally first chance they got and blaming him for their less than stellar album.

Why he bothers answering all the replies he got is beyond me. This tweet was absolutely avoidable, it's just material for his detractors

Do you think as I do if the tunes are sub par no amount of window dressing will make up for it ( I know I will hear thru it ) ? Or are you buying into whatever the guys name that's producing it ( not being funny I have no use for over thinking producers in rock and roll ) is gonna magically make tunes rock and be a success ??

I think he is good producer. The thing that I was critical of with him and DGSS was that I thought that it was his place to tell them when a song wasn't any good. Now it turns out that he did tell them that and they ignored him to their own detriment. Now I think he did the very best that he could have possibly done with what they were willing to give him. Obviously they were too concerned with getting something out quickly before Noel to listen to the constructive criticism of their producer. He can't be blamed for the bullheadedness of the band. The entire board was complementary about the sound of the album when it came out. It's only now that DGSS flopped that they are looking to blame it on bad production IMO I think good production makes it make a better first impression but the sheen of it wears off pretty quickly and then it's the song quality that matters. No amount of great production could make the songs on DGSS truly great. If Sitek makes a better album with them he will probably have had better material to work with. As you say eventually you hear through the tricks which is why I think truly great song grow on you.

Maybe he's just joking, but if Liam's still a cokehead it certainly would explain his commitment to mediocre tunes. If this video is any indication, well...

The only reason people consider DGSS a flop is because it wasn't as successful as some Oasis albums, which is completely understandable for many reasons; new band, new band name, and other things. It's not even a flop, it just didn't sell like an Oasis album would. Some bands would kill for their results

No band would "kill" for Beatles and Stones.

If people knew that LAG weren't great songwriters in Oasis, why was everyone so shocked that the quality of the songs on DGSS weren't great and why do they still continue to bash it? Just my opinion though man

One story from the Different Gear sessions is that Lillywhite strongly advised the band from making The Roller all John Lennony with echoey vocals. The end result shows who got their way, and ultimately, what led to a 'so derivative it was vomit inducing' album. If the new album shapes up to be everything different we've wanted as its promising to be, then we can say the poor reaction was a blessing in disguise and a much needed kick up the arse for the band members which sent them to the modern times.

That's the thing. I actually think LAG's contributions to Oasis albums were better than most of DGSS and show that they're capable of better stuff. Songbird, Guess God Thinks I'm Abel, Keep the Dream Alive, Turn Up the Sun, and I'm Outta Time are all album highlights for me. Wigwam is the only track on DGSS that I'd say is on par with those.
