So now we know Kill Switch isn't even on the album, fuck knows where that came from? Zane Lowe and XFM confirmed that Flick Of The Finger isn't the first single so I'm guessing Second Of The Bite Of The Apple will be with them filming a video for it today?
I'm so confused about this single my head hurts.

Funny that Zane says it's not the track he'll be playing, but the Shortlist interview says it is. Maybe it was supposed to be, but the track was played prematurely on US radio and they changed their minds cos BBC had the exclusive.... I don't know how long the editing process takes for music videos, but if the video for Second Bite of the Apple was filmed yesterday and the single is supposed to be released in less than a week now, that doesn't really add up, does it? The possibilities left for Kill Switch are: it never existed, it's a b-side, it has had its name changed, or is a non-album/promo single and will still be the one we hear on the 15th.
This is confusion, this is confusing me.

Because a lot of people were speculating that FOTF, with the quote at the end, could be a track that naturally leads into (the rumoured at the time) 'Kill Switch' due to the name, all Spaneli said was that this theory was no longer possible as Kill Switch now appears not to exist however it could still be a good lead in to another track. Read what's there, not what you want to be there. |

Could be that the first single video is already done. Likely in fact. I would have thought that they have the video on YouTube shortly after the first play. It's a pretty big time crunch if they are only filming it now. This shoot being for the single that's to be released with the album probably makes the most sense. |

I have no idea why people are even still holding on to the hope that this Kill Switch is a different track from FOTF. "And with just a flick of the finger, tear a million of you into pieces" - a blatant reference to a kill switch, and that quote is in the song FOTF, so understandably this song was also being called Kill Switch before official info/titles were released.
Lets move on, this song doesn't exist, period.
So the options for the first single are: a) FOTF, b) Second bite of the apple, c) any of the 9 other songs whose titles were tweeted by Liam today.
Judging by how they talked about FOTF in that interview and the BDI official site stems, I think option A is the most likely at this point.

Based on both what Zane Lowe has said (assuming the man is not an incompetent moron), and past experience with how Beady Eye promote their albums, we can say with a degree of assurance that Flick Of The Finger is an album taster and no more. |
