SIOD sounds like a dirge. Noel sound barely bothered to be playing it. Far better songs he could have pulled out than that. C'mon...if he plays Shout it out loud he wants to play Shout it out loud, and it sounds really good...the guitar solo is fucking amazing!

I reckon 'One Way Road', 'Just Getting Older' or 'Solve My Mystery' could be in there for the TCT gig no way he will play that! People said the same thing about Shout It Out Loud, Idlers Dream, Angel Child and Lord Don't Slow Me Down, so why not?

God that guy is boring. This is almost the same setlist as last year. And he was even talking shit like - "Oh, i cant play the same setlist, i player 6 shows in London last year..." and wow, 3 changed songs. No wonder Liam left him, this guy mus be as boring as my grandmother. Shame he is not as Pearl jam, as mentioned earlier. The shows would be more enjoyable... hopefully Liam will pick some oasis gems like anything from Be here now era for their shows. Diggsys dinner? Who likes this song???

Sounds great but no need for that woman shouting "You're so much better than Liam" at 0:06

I like Digsy's Dinner, never skipped this song while listening to DM. To me, songs like Digsy's Dinner and She's Electric are Noel's hidden gem. Love the lyrics too.

The way i see it, Shout it out loud adds an interesting thing to noel's live career, and it's a great song, but, it's quite redundant to insist with mid-tempo songs. HGFB is all about that. Stuff like digsy's dinner and she's electric are better choices imo. Or anything like the mtv unplugged.

Thank you to defmaybe00 and AllisonBrazil for the videos! Noel sounds amazing. I have to say, I am on board with those who want more guitar solos It's great that Noel pulled out some surprises here for the knowledgeable Oasis fans. God that guy is boring. This is almost the same setlist as last year. And he was even talking shit like - "Oh, i cant play the same setlist, i player 6 shows in London last year..." and wow, 3 changed songs. No disrespect, but I'm just wondering what kind of setlist you were expecting? Of course Noel's going to be playing several songs from his HFB album, since he's on a different path now. And I can't imagine that he wouldn't play some of the Oasis hits like Supersonic and the crowd favourite Don't Look Back in Anger. Given that it's Dubai (and given what some other posters here said about the crowd's reaction to lesser-known songs like LDSMD or SIOL) would it really have been wise for Noel to throw in more than 3-4 "unknown" (to the non-hardcore Oasis fans) songs in the mix? I myself am quite happy with this setlist. A good mix of favourites and b-sides that he hasn't played before. And let's not stray into another "Oasis vs. [insert other band name here]" argument. I understand some of us might want more variety in the setlist. But let's look at it a bit more objectively. Please don't assume that no one likes songs like Digsy's Dinner. I like it. And I know others on here like it. Some really dislike Be Here Now album. Some love it. Different strokes for different folks.

I'm glad he choose SHout it Out Loud, one of my favourite Oasis songs, and I never thought Noel were capable to do that guitar solo, but he did it, and pretty well, that's exciting! Of course he could do more stuff like Full On, The Fame, etc but probably he thinks rock songs are for Liam and he will keep midtempo songs. Hope he's doing Flashbax at TCT

I really don't get the fuss over Shout It Out Loud, to me it's an ok song but nothing more. Maybe that's because (and i'm sorry if it sounds pretentious because I don't mean to be) as a teen growing up with Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory, then Be Here Now there was only a few songs like it, on here some of the newer stuff no matter how much I like Oasis seems average at best and this is one of those songs.

But I also see how it would be better to include some more up-tempo songs amidst the mid-tempo ones. Good thing is, Noel does have a vast catalogue to draw from and experiment. And someone was saying that the band (HFB) had been encouraging Noel to play Lord Don't Slow Me Down? That tells me they have a knowledge of the Oasis catalogue too and are unafraid to give some input, which I think is also a good thing. I think Noel sometimes underestimates his ability to rock. Sure, some songs are more suited to Liam's vocals, but Freaky Teeth and Come On Outside are both examples, to me, that show Noel has it in him. Edit: actually, I would add She Must Be One of Us to this list too.

Hm, a mediocre review. But to me it reveals much more about the crowd than about Noel. www.thenational.ae/arts-culture/music/not-everyone-happy-with-this-high-flyerNot everyone happy with this high-flyer Sarah Ferguson Mar 17, 2013
It was a mixed reception for the Oasis legend Noel Gallagher on Friday night.
The crowd, at the packed beach in Dubai's Atlantis The Palm, eagerly awaited a set filled with Oasis songs but were treated to a two-hour performance largely focusing on the acclaimed debut, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds. The false anticipation was justified considering the promoters had stressed that this wasn't a High Flying Birds concert and Gallagher had arrived in Dubai with backing musicians as opposed to the full HFB band. After a somewhat slow start with the rumbling yet obscure Oasis' B-side (It's Good) To Be Free, Gallagher and his four-piece band picked up the pace with HFB's Everybody's on the Run, all the while ignoring cheeky crowd requests for his brother "Liam" and to "play something we know".
After serviceable versions of If I Had a Gun …, Freaky Teeth and the jaunty The Death of You and Me, Gallagher picked up the acoustic guitar for a rearranged version of Wonderwall followed by a similarly chilled version of Supersonic that elicited a mass singalong.
The set was rounded off with Lord Don't Slow Me Down and a heartfelt version of Oasis's Half the World Away.
Gallagher's solid encore included Shout it Out Loud, Digsy's Dinner and Don't Look Back in Anger. However, it was played to a diminished audience; many had walked away assuming he was finished.
It was a somewhat raucous night, with Oasis fans feeling rather underwhelmed.
Then again, they should know the often mercurial Gallagher does what he wants. sferguson@thenational.ae

tbh I wish they'd just hand out setlists on the doors to people who are only interested in the Oasis songs and let them decide whether or not they actually want to go in.
