I was really pissed at the crowd for their humdrum response to the b sides - I live for those songs
I would love to give you a video of shout it out loud (the double whammy in the encore of digsy and shout it out loud filled me with glee) but it caught me by surprise and my new friends and I were dancing the aforementioned jig, so couldn't get it on video. Perhaps one of my friends whom I went with will have it, and if so ill get it online for you guys
Fade away was not purely acoustic like Ashcroft but had minimal instrumentation - sounded mega
On a side note, I was hoping for Richard to join Noel for a rendition of Cast no Shadow, but it was not to be. Waste of an opportunity if you ask me. Maybe I read it wrong, but I feel Noel didn't get the best vibes from the crowd (200/300 of us in the front tried out best to make it loud and welcoming), which is unfortunate, because I think Noel could have played 2/3 more songs in a second encore - it was a very ..... Efficient performance

The first twitter referenced update posted here where I misspelled concert was from my account - no mention of my username @mishaladamjee? :-p the videos link is in my brothers account - I posted my videos on Facebook A quick review as I'm tired: Richard Ashcrofts 45 minute solo performance was very impressive - played his solo stuff and ended with an excellent solo acoustic version of Symphony Noel came on about an hour later, the set list posted above is 100% correct - he played wonder wall which i wasn't too happy about because frankly it's not Noel's best - I'd rather have heard Talk Tonight or the Good Rebel. The crowd was rowdy with a few fights breaking out but nothing worth mentioning - in typical Dubai style, most of the crowd was disappointed that they didn't know many of the songs (what were they expecting, Oasis?) - one guy actually asked me when "the brother" was coming on, and where was he? I stopped short of punching him, and explained Noel's solo philosophy - he actually slunk off to the bar I think Noel noticed the number of plastic fans, as although it was a good performance, he played it very much like a warm up gig. Not much banter except at the end he thanked us for paying crazy ticket prices and putting his kids through college. I loved the wit, aimed at the audience, but some people were turned off by the comment - did they even know who they came to see? The music was great, although the acoustics weren't great - vocals were drowned out a little, could be due to the beach setting (but Ashcroft had no issues, albeit solo) - shout it out loud and Digsy'sDinner were very welcome indeed, and the hardcore fans at the front and I indulged in a Russian Jig - he played exactly 90 mins. It was just great to see Noel live, and the High Flying Birds were on top form! Thanks a lot for the review! here's the clip btw

Cheers for uploading it to the forum - I'm working off a phone so it's a pain for me to do - apologies for the shaky camera, there was mad jostling in the crowd, and I'm a bad camera man at the best of times
I spoke to my buddy - he has a 30 second clip of shout it out loud and says he will upload it onto YouTube this weekend - ill share the link - although I'm sure there will be many better clips online shortly, there were atleast 30 phones out at all times, and a couple of high tech video cameras (there was no checking for recording equipment) atleast for my group of ten and the people who entered before and after us.
I just wanted to give immediate feedback and a quick video to give people a taste of what the concert was like, because on a 12 page post there's obv great interest - this forum has done s much for me, I wanted to just give a little bit back by being quick and fast in my review and upload regardless of the late time here

Also I've uploaded the death of you and me to my same YouTube account for you guys
Sorry about not get Digsy'sDinner or shout it out loud on video - as a life long Noel fanatic I realized the importance of these two songs being played but I was just too caught up in the excitement and crowd to pull my phone out :-( I regret it now

Very cool about the 'new' oasis songs.
Nice to see Noel maybe having played maybe 25% of his repertoire with the HFB now, hoping for a few surprises at the TCT gig next Saturday!

Given the attention span people got nowadays at gigs it would be suicidal to even think about playing new songs. Obscure Oasis b sides is already a HUGE risk in a world of Facebook and Twitter. I give Noel huge props for playing shout it out loud, lord don't slow me down and digsy's dinner but I knew better than to expect completely unheard of songs. Big steps for Noel regardless. My sentiments exactly. So the new additions were: Fade Away Lord Don't Slow Me Down Shout It Out Loud Digsy's Dinner Definitely surprised by LDSMD and SIOL. Somewhat surprised by Digsy's Dinner and Fade Away. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Noel do Fade Away (along with DLBIA) for a HFB radio session somewhere? If so, does anyone have a recording of that to share?

^^That may be it! Suprised its 2009, it feels like that was only a couple years ago. If there is no HFB version of Fade Away, then that is definitely it. Thanks for fishing it out eva

that reminds me he also played a great semi-acoustic version of Waiting For the Rapture on Live Lounge. That would be a nice addition to his setlist

Digsy's Dinner was equally brilliant. I've recorded shout it out on my iphone, minus a few seconds of the intro but I will get it uploaded onto my computer and the youtube tomorrow.

Wow!!! I was busy for the rest of the day today and come back on here and what do I see! Thank you for all your reviews, photos, and videos. Really excited to hear that Noel performed Fade Away (one of my favourites when Noel does it acoustically), Lord Don't Slow Me Down (!!) Shout It Out Loud (!!!), and Digsy's Dinner (!!!!). Basically all my reactions in exclamation marks when I read those song titles. Now I am looking forward to TCT, and I agree, I really hope we get a full broadcast of this.

I will give any amount of money to TCT if they do a full broadcast/audio release (similar to The Dreams We Have As Children). Sweet baby Jesus that is a fucking setlist.
