I must say I don't like it... It sounds like a demo... If you want a Noel Cast No Shadow vocal it has to be the MTV Unplugged version, that rendition was AMAZING, I think it shits all over this latest one. If they were going to do a new version of Cast No Shadow, I think Liam should have been singing it in the first place.
Thoughts, opinions, comments?

I quite liked it, but I agree with you that Liam should be singing.

I love it. Everything is very well done on that version.. Noel's voice, the strings, the drums and the guitar riffs. Simply amazing

yeah, it's great, better than the MG remix... especially how they loop those backing vocals ('Ahhhhhh Ahh' parts)....
Anyone know if Noel went into the studio to re-record it? or if it's from the MG sessions?

I think he recorded it recently yes. We'll just have to wait the album to be released to take a look at the credits.

Mental how this thread hasn't been bumped for over 11 years! Great version.
What's interesting about this track is how this was an early indication of the Noel/Gem sound that we got during the STC acoustic tour, TCT 2007, TCT 2010.
Damn, I really wish Noel made an album of brand new songs in this sort of style, I think it'd be one of his best ever.

Just 12 songs with Gem, Terry, Russell and Mike.

Just 12 songs with Gem, Terry, Russell and Mike. That would be awesome. I'd probably prefer that to another oasis album in all honesty. I've said it many times before on here but Noel really shines in an acoustic environment, so it only makes sense he goes down this route in the studio eventually. I love most the songs on Chasing Yesterday but it never really took my breath away because I think noel has just done the rock thing to death now. It's begining to border on cringey. I'd kill for a Noel album like Harvest Moon by Neil Young.

So, assuming this was from 2005 is that Zak on drums on this and Morning Glory?

I was going to post this song on the oasis thoughts but to my surprise someone has just bumped this thread so I'll post it here:
Just heard this for the first time today and it sounds brilliant! Does Noel play any instruments here? I don't remember if there was guitar in the original mix.

When this came out back in 1999 it fired me up to think Noel was involved in a project like this. I couldn't wait for SOTSOG to arrive. His album quotes were incredible (and wrong) and when combining it with Let Forever Be and this UNKLE tune the sky was the limit.

Kinda surprising to see Noel doing remixes of other peoples songs lol

Kinda surprising to see Noel doing remixes of other peoples songs lol He did Devil’s Haircut by Beck too...but this UNKLE track is cooler I think. Late nineties-early 2000s Noel was doing some really cool stuff - collabing on drum and bass and dance tracks, trippy instrumentals, remixes, writing with other people, messing with different sounds and production - I wish that SOTSOG had been more successful so that creativity had continued into the subsequent albums a little more

Morning Glory 2005 remix is a good example of how important a good mix is. I thought it kinda ruined the song. Owen Morris mixes were pretty much perfect.
